When you text you need to be fun right from the beginning, you need to be playful, avoid texting unnecessary formalities, you can text humorous though out loud that do not require a response from her, you need to tease her, you can text inside jokes…

Your messages need to generate emotions in her like laughter, tension, drama, surprise, suspense and intrigue.

If your text aren’t causing her to feel any of those emotions, then your conversations are most likely dull, safe, logical, predictable and boring.

Let me give you a little nugget of advice that will make you go far. You set the context of your relationships early on primarily through modes of communication.

You want the context of your relationship with her to be physical.

Texting her will only further serve to ingrain that this is not a physical relationship.

Reserve texting for when you have firmly established a physically based relationship, texting should then be mostly about setting up the logistics of getting together.

You suck at texting because you are worried about making it fun for her rather for yourself. You need to have a conversation that YOU think is fun, and then she will enjoy it too.

But you should not be texting girls that much. Pick up the phone and call her.

I've had ups and downs with this problem, and I've learned the more I know the girl (due to multiple dates, sex, hangouts, etc...), the more easier it is for me to have good conversations over text. Now, I don't usually text a lot in the beginning because I like to take initiative and get them to know me in person first... So, after you're over that hump, there's some things I like to do.

For example, if I feel like I have nothing to talk about during text and don't wanna be dry or cold, I might just quote a song that we both like or that she knows, and she'll text back the lyric after mine. I might roleplay and pretend I'm just texting her for the first time or that I'm her actual boyfriend playfully jealous about seeing her with Fabio today, I might send a meme or just do something to entertain her for just a bit. Then, I won't focus on texting anymore for a while until I see her again. I've been doing this with a girl I've known for a month now and it feels good and natural. For somebody I'm just meeting, I'd definitely stick to asking questions that will lead up to a date ("Hey, do you like antique shops?.... "Oh really, when's the last time you went? Get anything cool?"..... "Nice, well I've been thinking about checking out this one in downtown. Wanna come with?")....

At the end of the day, the best approach to texting is to not really care about it at all. Yes, be smart about what you're sending so you don't seem creepy or unexperienced, but at the same time always keep it casual. I recommend not using emojis unless its a laughing emoji and even so, stick to rare use of it (don't you dare use that puppy dog eye emoji).. Once you've gotten her to become attracted and you've already had some sexual experience with her, texting isn't a big deal unless you're constantly dry and unresponsive (she needs to be connected to you outside of dates too). Keep those in mind.
