Something I noticed recently is by making statements instead of questions I felt bolder and more confident. The same information was conveyed, but in a different tone. Asking for permission is beta behavior, and a question is asking for permission.

When I approach, I turned my questions in to statements. Instead of asking "What do you do?" I say "Let me guess...You must be an astronaut/dancer/drug dealer." This turns in to a funny back and forth where she corrects me and gives her real occupation. This is much bolder than a direct question would be. It also avoids the dreaded interview mode.

When on a date, I turn my questions in to statements. Instead of asking "Want to go on a walk?" I say "Let's go on a walk." Or instead of asking "Are you hungry?" I say "You must be hungry...Let's eat." I bear the responsibility of the decision made. By taking control, I am being an alpha male. This happens simply by turning questions in to statements.
