Going up to a girl and asking her if she wants to get coffee is way too much, too soon. It also makes you look worse - because what kind of man is willing to give up 30-60 mins of his time to sit with a girl who he doesn't know anything about? She might be boring, stupid, have nothing in common with you.

Most girls when you do this will assume you are either crazy or desperate. If you wanted to do it, you'd be better just saying 'hey I thought you looked cute and wanted to say hi.'

BUT - keep in mind that women are always concerned for their physical safety. She doesn't know when you approach that you're not a rapist/total nutcase/both. So your focus should not be on 'building attraction', it should just be on putting out a calm, healing energy that makes her feel safe.

As she spends more time in your company, she begins to trust you more. At that point you can tell her 'you seem quite cool actually - have you got 30 mins to grab a quick coffee now?'

But genuinely you should be approaching her with the attitude of wanting to find out if she's cool. Wanting to find out if you have any kind of connection. Wanting to find out if there's something worth exploring to take further with her.

And you need to be willing to WALK AWAY if it turns out this is not the case.

This is seriously the problem with the majority of 'approaches' of guys. The girl feels like the guy is interested before she has done anything to earn it - and she respects him less as a result. She needs to feel 'this guy could walk away at any moment if I show myself to not be what he is looking for.'

unless shes a womans studies major that thinks any male female interaction that did she did not initiate is harresment/sexual assult you should be able to just come up to her, introduce yourself and if you see shes uncomfortable or unresponsive then you say "its been nice to meet you" and walk away.
