So I am asking this question because today I fucked up and was looking for advice.

I was travelling on the train which was busy so it just happens to I was to be standing next to this girl who I think is very attractive. So she makes a silly comment about how the train is very busy and I just laugh it off and say "yeah". At that moment I wanted to chat but was super nervous and had no clue what to say, so my solution was to stand still and not say anything.

Then I said to myself fuck it let try and chat with this woman so I make a silly joke she laugh, then I start the conversation about how my day was going, it all started well, she kept talking about herself and what she does etc. It was so weird for me because this was the first time talking to an attractive woman and somehow my panic about talking to her disappeared, however, this did not last long and it started going downhill from here.

So when we finished talking about ourselves, I had 0 clue where to go with the conversation. I started asking her about the city and stuff but it wasn't as smooth as the start and we just started taking longer pauses between sentences. I had no idea where to go with it. Luckily people started leaving the train so we kind of stopped talking and she goes to get a seat, then calls me to come and sit behind her in an empty seat. I just walk over and thank her and sit and as we were leaving she gives me a smile and that is it.

So I wasn't bothered with the fact that I couldn't get her number although that would have been great, I just realised that I am missing a skill that I need to improve but I have no idea where and how and hoping you guys can help.
