Do not contact this girl using the number your friend got for you. It will come across at best as needy and at worst as downright creepy. If your friend is a mutual acquaintance get him to arrange for you all to have a night out together.

Maybe have your friend get a hold of her and have him/her say that you were digging her or something along those lines. Less creepy, less your fault.

Talk to your friend that knows her and all of you can get together and hang out in person. Its super creepy though if you just randomly got her number from anyone but her.

was she hammered when you saw her last? It's unethical but i guess you could lie and say she was so smashed she didnt remember giving you her number.

I wouldn't do this though. you should get your friend to get you to the christmas shindig, and try again.
