The pain of rejection is proportional to your emotional investment in the outcome.

Not every romantic rejection hurts the same. And if you often get very hurt from rejection, you can benefit from delaying emotional investment.

There are many times getting rejected from a school or job could hurt more than romantic rejections. It all depends on the emotional investment in the outcome - whatever it is.

Also I would like to add something that can help you mentally. I’m a Christian.

So, you have to look at it this way. Jesus was the greatest man to ever walk the Earth. Even Jesus was rejected by people. Granted this wasn’t in a romantic sense but you catch my drift.

So if he can be rejected, what chance do us mortal beings have ?

Even though he was rejected he is still the son of God. Even though you will get rejected no matter how handsome you are, you are still a king. Rejection doesn’t lessen your status brothers. Remember that.

Does it, though? For everyone? Sure it sucks. But if it’s the most painful thing in the world, then likely either it is touching the raw nerve of another, earlier painful experience that you haven’t processed properly. Or you have your self worth tied up in either this particular person or in romantic sex in general.

It hurts like hell. But I don’t think it’s the most painful experience ever. If you are passionate about being a doctor or a dancer or something like that, then not getting into the school or job you wanted to get into can be a major life event.
