As someone 5’6”, if you let your height at 5’8” affect your dating life that’s on you. You’re solidly average or above in most of the world. Even for someone my height, solidly below average, it would be a weak excuse to blame a lack of success on height alone. Is it a factor? Yes, but as others have said you likely don’t want to be with partner who write you off for one shallow characteristic.

I'm 5'7, I live in the Netherlands. So the tallest people in the world.

Personally I never had issues with my dating life. Not like I'm a banger either that can get any girl. But I'd say it's a healthy dating life.

Very rarely have I had a girl said to me - you are too short. Only once or so? Though you never know how many thought it. I've even dated girls a head taller than me, though not a lot.

On dating apps, being average height (which you are) will be a slight disadvantage. In meatspace, being average height won't negatively affect your chances at all. However, since you are clearly hung up on your height, I advise making peace with it by speaking to a therapist.

Edit: reading through your responses, I'm going to reemphasize that you should seek therapy regarding both dating and your height. Copy pasting your bit about height and sex shows how obsessed you are with the issue, to the point of being unable to behave normally when discussing it.

Height is irrelevant. When it comes to physical appearance if you are good looking and in shape it doesn't matter if you're 5'4 or 6'4. I'm 6', don't know if that's deemed tall or average these days, but as I'm not good looking I stand out as not looking compared to shorter guys who aren't good looking. I see shorter guys with girls everywhere but they are better looking than me. If I could shrink a foot and become better looking at the same time I'd take it.

Depends on your social skills, how confident you are, how funny you are, how witty you are, how muscular or fat you are, how charismatic, your smooth you are, how non-needy you are, how fun you are to be around, how superficial you are, how try-hard you are, and how comfortable in your own skin you show up when a woman tests you on any of your short-comings.

If you have many of these and other positive qualities, you can compnesate that height which isn't even that short. Im 5’77” and i have never been self-concious about my height or assume it's a detriment, other things lie the ones i mentioned were bigger detriments than that in my experience.

You will also struggle to get girls if you compare yourself to others, if you treat women like targets, if you treat women like judges of your worth, or if you ar needy desperate to increase your body count because women can smell the desperation and hunger from guys who based their worth on the number of lays they get and get turned off since the sex is all about him and his ego.
