Her response will be unreasonable or intentionally vague while asking for the most the court can give her. Florida has excellent self help material for divorce. Why not try to work through a marital settlement agreement before you file?

Absolutely. you could even ask for a mediator first and only get the lawyer when that fails. Read "splitting" by bill eddy, the best write up on how this works I've seen.

That's the best thing to do, get a lawyer that has your best interest in mind. I'm in the same boat, do what you need to cover yourself. Remember this is not your wife, best friend or someone who loves you, this is a war and it's best to have people on your side.
