I've been friends with Amy(pseudonym) for a little over 10 years now and I love her, but she's always been somewhat of a pickme. She's never been single for more than a few months since I met her even though we were only 11 and she's been with her LVM bf since she was 16 (we're 21 now). It seems like she just can't fathom living without a man. She seems irritated that I've only been single and focusing on my school and career. She brings men up and tries to give me dating advice everytime we hangout even though I have made it very clear that those things aren't important to me. We're both in college so we're in similar stages of our lives, but sometimes she speaks to me in a hostile way and I feel like she might be a little envious of my discipline. I got accepted into our dream school and she didn't, but she still goes to a good university. I don't mind that she talks about men so often as much as I do mind that she constantly tries to set me up with her LVM friends. It's insulting and I feel like she does it to annoy me at this point. I've been really honest with her and I've already explained how much this bothers me. She just laughs when she tries to set me up and I tell her I'm not interested in finding a man right now. She says that I need one. I don't need one. I don't even want one right now. Should I be more stern with her? What can I do to put an end to this matchmaker side of her? Should I just spend less time with her?
