I think to answer the question as to why is because it's not incentivised to do so, the current system already has the biased model of abuse and looking into the creator only hurts their bottom line.

We should talk about her more but that would have to come from our side of thing unfortunately.

I never see feminists talk about her - period. I think they avoid the subject of the Duluth Model like the plague. So much so that many feminists have never even heard of it. Not too long ago I met a literally card-carrying actively participant NOW member who thought I was making shit up when I told her about it.

It's probably because a lot of people don't know about her. I've heard plenty about the Duluth model, but not much about who created it.

I think some guy who had a hand in development or training cops on it did an AMA years ago and got a bunch of pushback, but I don't remember his name either.

It’s actually AGAINST feminism’s interests to put a specific theoretical framework down to the reason why interpersonal/domestic violence is viewed the way it is, because of one very simple reason: the model has been criticised and falsified for literal decades, Pence herself basically disowned it and stated it was pure confirmation bias, as well as one Jamie Abrams discussing how it exists as part of a deliberate ploy to impose said gender paradigm into actual policy. (See “The Feminist Case for Acknowledging Women’s Acts of Violence” if you haven’t already.)

So they’ll turn to the next best alternative, crime stats. That at least seems to be the best thing to harp on because then it would appear to prove their view of IPV to be true, without opening the floodgates to the fact that criminal reports and arrests of IPV are tangibly linked to feminist gerrymandering skewing those numbers. Men don’t report as much, they typically aren’t given a means to view themselves as victims because it’s a “woman thing,” and are generally more likely to be treated with suspicion and by default deemed the primary offender (Australia’s Victoria County literally has it in their police training manual to scrutinise any claims of victimisation made by men for fuck’s sake).

It’s a massive root for a SHITTON of problems for men, but it’s also a house of cards that needs to be kept hidden because it is that flimsy, once you take the time to dissect the decades upon decades of criticism that has been directed at it.

In other words, don’t shut up about it.
