You’ll often hear from the left that toxic masculinity teaches men things like “man up,” “don’t be a pussy,” etc. Basically the idea of being a lone wolf and that you have to strut the ways of life on your own. I’m here to talk about how the Left dismantled these ideas while still reinforcing them.

Whenever a topic on a men’s issue comes up you will typically see retorts that include leftists saying things that try to make it seem as if the problem is not that bad or doesn’t even exist. Sometimes you’ll even be referred as an incel because of it. This includes topics like American male genital mutilation; domestic violence, school treatment, parental rights, rape, etc.

So how is this similar to the “don’t be a pussy” statements?

Well in both scenarios you have a group of people disproving the idea that men are in trouble. It’s coated differently but the execution is the same. “Man up” becomes “you guys want to be oppressed so badly 🙄.” “Don’t be a pussy” translates to “okay incel” (actual comment I saw on a Khadija Mbowe thread). Over on TwoX about a year ago, there was a post about how men in western society are struggling and the people in the comments were not very sympathetic. The poster herself even said that men just need to “get out this rut” which reinforces the lone wolf mentality of men. Over on TikTok a (semi) famous singer struck her husband for cheating and a lot of women were cheering her in the comments (see my profile for more).

In retrospect, the left managed to take the idea of men being powerful and still somehow use it to their advantage. The Left says “You can’t be oppressed because you’re part of the oppressor class.” The Right says “You can’t be struggling because you’re a powerful man that just needs to get his dough up.”

Sound familiar or am I just being stupid?
