Hahahahahahaha. Get the fuck out of here with this. How about you crack the whip on the office of civil rights to start doing anything about flagrant violations? Half of your population is having massive educational issues and you decide that focusing on the other half that is currently dominating higher education by massive margins?

OCR dismissed a case I filed where a program described participants at an event as "all-female." They said gender based words in the name or description are allowed and anyone could technically apply which means it wasn't discrimination. I'm 95% sure they didn't even read any of the cases that OCR uses to justify this general rule. I couldn't find any reference to any case law in their statements and documents to support this. The only ones they reference do not support this conclusion.

Case law has only established that a description is allowed to use gender based words when it describes legal content. Like "mens basketball team" or "this course studies the writings of women during suffrage and their lived experience." It doesn't cover when the description, if true, describes illegal content. It's not a fucking free pass. I have not seen OCR reference any case law that supports using discriminatory language to describe participants when that discrimination would be illegal in practice. I can not fathom that civil rights law could be reasonably interpreted to allow this or that any case law supports it.

I filed an appeal and said case law and previous statements don't support the justification for dismissal, along with a big breakdown of why.

I literally see courses that are for credit at schools that explicitly say anyone can attend but it will focus on helping women. Yet if a course actually did that, it would technically be illegal. A description of illegal content can not be considered legal so long as it is incorrect. If we accept that anything can be a description as long as it is inaccurate, then we invite a myriad of legal issues and horrendous behavior while opening easy loopholes for avoiding civil rights law.

If you are in the USA and aren't filing Title IX complaints federally with OCR and instead sit around and bitch, you are doing it wrong. It is free to file with OCR and you are not required to have an attorney. It takes a lot of people filing to send a strong message and force a big ruling.

It frustrating how the many issues that men face are never included in these things. I’m not opposed to making the work and other things safer for women, I don’t think many people are opposed to that. But when not one male issues is included In this what are we supposed to think? Are we not supposed to think that our society values women more than men? They talk about “health” without addressing that men’s life expectancy is so much lower. They talk about education without addressing the massive education gap.

The issue of men's rights has been firmly placed on the 'alt-right' shelf and it's going to stay there for a very long time I'm afraid.
