Australian here that studied engineering, this doesn't bother me at all, it won't have any effect on men that want to study engineering.

In my opinion, the current entry requirements are already too low compared to the difficulty of the course. It is a very difficult 4 year degree and they're not doing these female students any favours. They will tank their GPA, accrue unnecessary debt and use up their Centrelink allowable time for study.

They need to raise the entry requirements for BOTH men and women for engineering to reflect the true difficulty of the degree so people don't waste their time and money.

- It blatantly discriminates against men, but having women held with inferior standarts will also discriminate against the portion of women that can be held with male standarts (the competent ones). So no gender benefits from it since companies will know male engineers are more competent than their female counterparts.

- Might lead to segregated engineering classes to provide female students an adequate education. But this will also give male students peace of mind since they will also have their own classes and courses. No female bullshit to deal with.

Fuck, I work under a lead female engineer that is totally clueless. She hasn't gotten a damn thing done since she became the defacto lead. Every day I cant fucking believe she hasn't been held accountable. It's truly amazing. She has mastered the art of attending meetings, gathering info from people, then having a meeting with management and distributing that info as if it were her own ideas.
I'm about to dip out though, so this place can burn to the ground for all I care.
