Well if I was in the area I would 100% go and see her. She speaks the truth. Without sounding sycophantic I have admired her for many years.

I want to applaud Karen so much for doing this but at the same time I am also afraid for Karen. This is an even more sensitive topic than standard anti-feminism because it goes to the heart of womanhood, which is a sacrosanct subject.

Femininity or masculinity aren't toxic, they are the very essence of our psyche and bodies. What is toxic are ideologies that promote prejudice and injustice and discourages it's members from having critical thought or liberty.

Just curious. Not sure if anyone here could answer the question; but what does it take to get Karen Straughan to come to your town to speak?

I'm a member of a community mental health coalition. We have regular meetings. Recently there has been a strong feminist presence and some speakers have begun to attempt to make mental health a gendered issue.

Considering that 90% of suicides are men and it's barely peeped about, I'm feeling strongly that the issue needs to remain non-gendered at best.

Just wondering what's involved in having a guest speaker. I'm Canadian. I assume airfare and accommodations need to be covered and some sort of stipend or honorarium paid to Karen. If she'd even be interested.

We're a not-for-profit grass-roots community association and I feel that she might really have something to offer.

Anyone have any experience with this? I guess I could just PM her.

I have this feeling that feminists are NOT going to protest this talk. They would do so for anyone else, but not Karen Straughan. It could be because she's a bisexual woman but I don't exactly know the real reason.

Fire alarm

People in the event who will pull out objects to make noise with.

Bomb treats.

Imo volunteers should monitor all fire alarms and security should be standing by to immediately eject anyone disturbing the peace. This way the only avenue for stopping things are bomb threats which you can't do anything about anyway.
