According to one of the females who narrowly escaped death in America's most recent mass shooting, "there were multiple men that got on their knees and pretty much blocked all of us….ready to take a bullet for any single one of us."
For some strange reason, men are collectively blamed for a male nut who decides to shoot people, but not collectively praised for their typical acts of heroism during such atrocities. Even though the ratio is about 99 to 1; that is, 99 brave heroic men to 1 male nut.
Even though women rarely risk their lives for male strangers. Women can be heroic too, but if men are going to be collectively blamed for a minority of nuts, surely they also deserve collective praise for conducting the majority of heroics?
Women certainly aren't subject to this grotesque bigotry. When a woman throws her baby in a dumpster, we don't say, "ah yes, another example of toxic femininity; all women should be blamed for the actions of this female nut, who represents a small minority of the female population."
Anita Sarkeesian and other feminists have characterized mass shootings as examples of "toxic masculinity," but they never praise the heroism and selflessness of the majority of men during such episodes. Because that would entail saying something positive about men and masculinity.
Karen Straughan and Tom Golden have noted that the positive aspects of masculinity have been steadily erased from public discourse. We're allowed to talk about the ways in which men are supposedly bad, but not the ways in which men are good.
To add to the perversity, a lot of these male "lone nut" killers were raised without their fathers. Warren Farrell notes that the vast majority of mass shooters were raised by single mothers or grew up in broken families. But apparently women have no agency -- that is the sole purview of men. And we're also supposed to ignore the fact that most male rapists were sexually abused by women as children.
The entire discourse is designed to remove all agency from women, and place all responsibility on men. In other words, feminist discourse is an extreme example of "traditional gender roles", not a repudiation of them.
Here's what I'd like to know: in the quest to "abolish traditional gender roles," when are women going to start taking bullets for men?

Saving females is definitely toxic masculinity as it puts men at risk. Safe masculinity is to walk past and leave the female in distress to her own means.

Men protecting women from its toxic masculinity as it doesn't take into account the dangers to oneself as a man. Toxicity kills.
