A couple of comments in other threads have piqued my interest, and I was wondering who the good folks of PPD considered to be the "strong", "good" or "aspirational" male role models from literature or film?

My choices would lean towards men like Atticus Finch (To Kill A Mockingbird); a widowed father and civil rights lawyer from the American South charged with defending a black man accused if rape.

Another would be Terry Pratchett's Sam Vimes; a policeman who battles depression and alcoholism to become an inspirational leader, highly respected diplomat and loving husband and father.
