Over the past few weeks I've asked promiscuous RPers who one day want to settle down why they think so little of women who do the same, to the point they would not be able to form a relationship with someone even with the exact same sexual past as them. Some RPers say women are just "different" (while refusing to explain how), others talk about an irrational feeling they cannot control and a few admit they have no basis for the belief and are hypocrites about it.

Me, I'm on the nurture side of this debate: people brought up to believe sex is icky and degrading for only one gender outside of marriage will have the sort of reaction to female casual sex that RPers do. People who don't tie a person's worth to how many people they have or haven't fucked will not think men are great for sleeping around and women are disgusting for it.

That being said, if people stop shaming women and socially rewarding men who have casual sex, the whole slut/stud shtick will lose all relevance.

Men and women each have their value tied to sexuality in different ways. For men it is shameful to be impotent, and to not be able to attract a mate for sex, especially being a virgin. For women it is shameful to have too much sex, and to not be able to form lasting relationships, especially having all sex but no commitment. These people are shamed in various ways, being called loser virgins and sluts, being ostracized by their peers sometimes to the point of suicide and of course all the lasting effects of being bullied. Is all this shit worth it just to have some "untouched pussy"?

Let's pretend that somehow a generation of people are born into a world without sexual shaming. Men will stop being shamed for being virgins and will have less to gain socially from sleeping around. Women will stop being thought of as losing value from casual sex and be more willing to engage in it, further dismantling the hunter/prize dynamic. Women will also have less to gain from keeping their legs closed and missing out on the fun, sexy times to be had, meaning more casual sex for everyone. I really can't see how this is not a win-win situation, CMV.
