Most old men who want younger girls usually have an ulterior motive. I've noticed most of them want to take advantage of them. 18 years old girls might be considered adults but they still have very little life experience. They're either still in high school or just finished. What is the obsession old men have with teenagers?

From a legal standpoint, an adult can date an 18yo no issue. From a pragmatic standpoint, why would you want to? Aside from the ability to fuck somebody with the "ideal" body (which isn't even guaranteed; plenty of 18yos are less than ideal) what exactly is the appeal? The common ground between an 18yo and a 40yo is narrow, if any exists.

The whole idea, of an older guy looking at an 18yo and being like "oh yeah that's definitely somebody I want to spend time with" says to me 3 things. Either the guy is

Insecure and feels a need to validate himself through sex
Going through a crisis (midlife, whatever) and is chasing youth as a means of escapism or
emotionally stunted/damaged and unable to properly connect with women closer to his age

Eh. I think it depends on the age difference. If an older guy specifically goes for 18 year olds, we all know it's probably because he knows she'll be easy to manipulate. And I'd think he was way dodgy for that reason. Unless she's particularly headstrong, an 18 year old girl is a pretty easy target.

I don't think it should be against the law or anything though.

Alright, I'll look at it from what I suppose is a terper's perspective. What does being an 18 year old entail (characteristics etc)?

Immature, naive
Low n-count
More malleable/susceptible to manipulation or mind games
Unexperienced
Looks young

I find that a lot of the traits valued in 18 year olds by terpers are similar to that of a child. Of course, maturity isn't all black and white and 18 year olds can be incredibly mature but I also wonder what an 18 year old could possibly have in common with say, a 30 year old man. They are going to be in vastly different places in life. When I was 16 I dated a guy aged 19 who was in his last year of high school. Even that felt like too big of an age difference. He was all about completely different things which would also apply to areas like music, tv shows, life goals, gambling. Now I understand that I was (naturally) immature, only 16 years old and how this is just an anecdote. But imagine someone who wouldn't hesitate to manipulate if he felt it would be necessary (e.g. an older RP man). The less experienced you are in life (and relationships), the more likely you won't be able to protect yourself from such. That's why I feel like it's rather predatory for an older terper man to do so given things like ''dread game'' and the way women are portrayed in r/TheRedPill. Doesn't have to be predatory but that's just the first thing that comes to my mind.

I don't think age gaps relationships are inherently bad. After all, I'm in one myself (we met when I was 19 and he was 35.)

However, I do think that you should take on board that this person likely has a lot less life experience than you and may well be a lot more vulnerable and easily led. Pretending that someone who's less experienced and mature than you is on your level is only going to cause harm in the end by pressuring them to act more 'adult' than they're prepared to, so you have to be willing to sometimes make tough decisions for their good that they might not be able to do (i.e. breaking it off if you're causing them harm.)

Generally, Dan Savage's campsite rule is quite useful, especially for relationships that you're expecting to be short.

See, if it's consensual, no coercion or need of any kind, +18, nobody has a right to forbid it to you. But it's unavoidable to question the intentions of the older person. Why? Because when you're 18 you're still a kid. You barely made it out of high school, usually have no idea what life and responsibilities are, your worries are still on the basic side of things. You might be smart, but not street smart.

I would wonder, then, why a man who's 50 years old doesn't get bored with someone with a lot less experience than him. Did he never get past 18 years old himself? Is he emotionally manipulating her to get some sex? Can she be so mature as to beat such a huge generation gap? Will he stand it if she goes to college? Will she want to settle and have a marriage so young?

I acknowledge I could always be wrong, and perhaps getting to know the couple could change my opinion. I also acknowledge not all 18 years old girls and 50 years old men are the same. But this is what I automatically wonder.

I guess because most people remember what it was like to grow up and how differently they experienced life when they were 18 compared to when they were 28 or 38 or 48 and think that something's a bit off if someone with the life experience of 38 years is interested in someone with the life experience of 18 years.

For what it's worth I don't like military recruiters operating in high schools either.

I just think it's creepy if you're way older than the person you're dating regardless of gender. Like, what could a 35 year old have in common with a teenager? They're a whole generation apart. In my opinion the primary characteristics of teenagers are inexperienced and gullible. I question the motives of someone who would seek those people out. Just stick to the standard creepy-dating-age formula.
