So I know some of you have several kids to keep you busy and I certainly know not all of you stay at home (do I really need all the disclaimers?), but for those who do, how do you cope with the loneliness/isolation/depression that comes with not having a career? Do you work part time or volunteer? Do you do a lot of meet ups with friends and family? Do you have any tips?
Background (feel free to skip): I followed my boyfriend to a new city when he got a promotion and have only just started making friends here and have no family in the area. He's looking for another job in another city where we also don't have family, so one way or another, I'll be jobless again soon. We both want me to stay at home when we have kids (maybe 2 years out), at least until they're all in school, and he probably doesn't want me working full time until they're older. I think a lot of people underestimate the mental toughness it takes to be able to be so isolated from the adult world and to never be able to leave your "job." And I guess I'm just worried I won't be able to hack it.
