Anyone else have an ADHD captain?

Is he actually a captain or just a SO?

My SO has ADHD, it's taken him a lot of self reflection and practice to control it without medication, sometimes he still uses medication.

He doesn't get distracted in the ways you mention though, so I might not be much help. He just mainly gets distracted with conversations/ occasionally talks over shows/ doesn't always reply to strings of text messages and only replies to the most recent one.

My husband was diagnosed with ADHD and OCD. The OCD takes care of the ADHD, but also means he tends to micromanage a lot. It drives me crazy, because I have ADD and GAD, and I can be very careless and make silly mistakes if my anxiety is high. He doesn't appear to understand that his OCD means he notices so much more of EVERYTHING, and he has to make an effort not to micromanage, and my ADD means I miss a lot. Sometimes I feel like I'm the only one who has to improve and he doesn't. He's not wrong when he corrects me, but he can take it very personally. It's one of our challenges of living together, because he sometimes feels like I don't care about him, and I sometimes feel like there's a lot of pressure on me to be perfect and wonder if I'm capable of living up to his expectations.

I'm currently trying a new approach as this tends to come in waves. I'm keeping everything as normal and pleasant as possible when I see his patience wearing thin, not going over the top by any means, but just hanging in there basically.

I don't actually believe ADHD exists. Its a con so that companies can sell their pharmaceuticals. I think all these personality disorders and psychiatric illnesses that have popped up in the last 20-30 years are a load of bull.

Wow, it's nice to see someone else in the same boat. Whether or not ADHD really exists, my fiance has it too. Sometimes the hardships we go through flash back to how he was raised and his family and mom growing up, though. And there definitely are behavior patterns that can be lumped together and recognized as ADHD, so it's hard to say it's not a real disease.

How did we ever cope 100 years ago?
