Yes and no. Obviously the fertility thing won't matter as much, however fertility is strongly linked with attractiveness. Men even rate women more attractive when they're ovulating versus other stages in the cycle according to some of the studies I've seen.

So even if you're not planning on having children, if you want to maximize your peak SMV while finding a partner this will probably be easier in your 20s as opposed to your 30s just because we're biologically programmed to pick a partner for reproductive reasons, even if we have no intention to reproduce.

The wall applies EVEN MORE to a childfree woman. One way that women gain and maintain a partner is to transition from sexually attractive wife to mother of their child. This coincides with their looks fading (hard truth - pregnancy doesn't add to beauty. It may add a different kind of beauty, but...). Men act with loyalty and will usually accept that transition.

But if you're child-free, as you age and get less attractive, there's nothing to replace that with. Guys can still land hotter, younger women than you. What do you have to offer him that they don't? The married mother still offers "mother of your children"; you don't.

That matters to many men. Sure, there are plenty of men who want to be childfree themselves, and who would take you and partner you for life. But it really weakens the long term bonds.

I guess it depends on what you're looking for. If you're looking for a relationship, then only in so far as the number of available men shrinks. If you're looking for marriage, then yes. Most men who are interested in marriage are either looking for someone to start a family with or, if they're successful and not interested in kids, are very likely only going to consider women who are close to their socio-economic background (a life partner) or are extremely good looking (a trophy wife). Since most people become sexually less desirable as the age, the inhibits the "trophy wife" option unless you're willing to marry a much older man. Truthfully, I wouldn't recommend that anyway because the kind of man who is looking for a trophy wife (as opposed to a partner) is likely very narcissistic & selfish; I would caution you against such men.

Men are attracted to indicators of fertility, not fertility itself, since that would require ultrasound/mindreading superpowers.

From my understanding “the wall” is the decline of a woman’s looks. When someone has hit “the wall” it means they have lost a lot of the attractiveness they once had.

If you are going by this definition the wall comes for everyone. Even if you don’t want to have kids, you will still eventually lose the attractiveness you once had. You can stall the wall, but you can’t stop the wall. Wether it comes at 26 or 66, it will happen eventually.

Just an FYI, I'm now 48 but I didn't meet my husband until I was 36, and we married at 38 ( my first marriage). One of the many reasons he married me is BECAUSE I was childfree. He wanted a loving, compatible partner to share his life, not a super hot trophy wife or a baby maker. Incidentally, I don't consider myself attractive, and wasn't when we married... Even when I really try, I'm on the low end of average (my personal opinion), but he thinks I'm hot, so whatever. :)

I work full time but still maintain the attitude and habits of a Red Pill Wife. I do all of the cooking and shopping, the vast majority of housework, I pamper my husband and give him lots of undivided attention... When he speaks to me, I stop everything I'm doing (unless I'm driving!), look directly at him, actively listen and have a real conversation with him. I take an interest in his interests... I never, ever nag him (it doesn't work anyway... Men do what they want, when they want to do it) and I always give him the benefit of the doubt and trust that he's smart and knows what he's doing. As long as he's not hurting anyone, he has the right to do as he pleases.

I do these things because I value him and take him (and our relationship) seriously. I think I was practically born pressing against "the wall" - I was homely as hell even as a little kid! But I learned to scale that wall and found a real treasure on the other side - a man who loves me even more than I love myself

The reason men prefer younger women isn’t necessarily specifically because they want to have children, but it kind of is.

So every man wants the most beautiful woman he can get, that’s an obvious truth. The thing about female beauty though, is that beauty is very closely tied to youth and fertility. So a man who doesn’t care about having children will still be able to agree that the random bikini model on his Instagram feed is hot. Does he necessarily tie in the word hot with “long healthy hair, perky boobs, youthful face, smooth skin”? Probably not, but these are a combination of factors that are more difficult to maintain as you age, and these factors are always tied with what men perceive as beautiful.

There have been studies about beauty perception between men and women.

For the most part when women rated men, they rated men slightly older than them as most attractive when the woman was youthful, but they rated men slightly younger than them as most attractive as the women got older. The ratings are always within a relatively close proximity to their own age though (+- 5ish years at most, usually 2-3 years difference).

When men rated women though, regardless of the man’s age: they always rated women between 20-24 as the most attractive. Whether the man was 18 or 50, the most attractive women to him were always 20-24 years old.

So does literal fertility matter? No. But does beauty matter which is pretty closely tied to age and fertility for women? Yes.

I would agree with the other comment. But also to add my two cents, many young men that I met at university were unattractive (at least I thought so) because they were so immature. I only met my husband through working at the same company during school. We were both students at the time, but working to support ourselves.

So I guess I didn't spend my early twenties "looking for romance", but rather it was a coincidence. I've noticed myself finding other men more attractive in the workplace than I did at school, tbh.
