Marriage is like roulette, there's a chance that you'll find someone who is a good person but the chance is bigger that you'll regret it, especially in the times of feminists with "woman power"

When the wife cheats and gets preggo by different men shes enabled by the court to back her up and take half your money💀

That study lumped in single men with divorced men and married men don't make more money. Most of that money isn't going to themselves
[+]MelodiousTones[🍰] -35 points-34 points-33 points 3 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link
If married women were making more, that majority wouldn’t go to her individually. We are talking about income not spending.
[–]Jakeybaby125 30 points31 points32 points 3 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link
You do realise that women account for the majority of household spending right? I'd rather stay single and I'd advise all men everywhere not to get married unless you want children. If she wants marriage without children, don't do it. You will regret it hard

No one would marry someone who is only marrying them for children.

Love is the reason. Many happy couples have no children and are married.
[–]vesuvius_1_02 6 points7 points8 points 3 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link
And men aren't getting married anymore because woman initiate divorce. Even if they do have child(ren), here comes the divorce/alimony, child support, constant belittling nagging and SIGN language. Not to mention the reputation assassination (you know that whole "he's so toxic" spiel).
The point is women (not all, but we don't work with outliers or special cases) in general want the big fancy wedding, big house (that you only flaunt to your shallow and therefore retarded friends), fancy car. And when you don't get it you don't give a shit. But when you get it oh also, you don't give a shit.
So guys, already used to abuse from having to do more than just "live" and "be" in this world do the only thing that can offer them a respite, since the simple function of wanting to be a member of a stayed and stable family is no longer on the table nay, not even up for negotiation, is flee. Thats right you can interpret it as we're scared. After all, who tf sticks their hand (or pick a limb) into a gd murder-hornet nest (euphemism for you guessed it).
So at the end of the marriage and the divorce is finalized guys literally look like a carpet that's been washed hard, wrung harder, and left out to dry. And we would consider the entire ordeal somewhat "worth it" just to see a little person(s) with half our traits that we can teach, encourage, comfort, protect and watch grow.....AND THEN!
Women weaponize it! You completely manipulate and undermine the entire purpose that drives us! Walk through fire? No sweat. Crawl over broken glass? Just a scratch! Fight this lion, defend us from these barbarians, kill that spider.....We'd do all of that and then some! And women know it. They know the family courts have their back. They know what buttons to press to get a response. They know their tears and cries attract the white-knight pussy starved wannabe next man is lined up and seeking to aid you in your time of need. To rescue you in your time of peril. Women play the court of public opinion like they are orchestra conductors. They know exactly where men hurt the most.
So guys just resolve themselves to their reality. No kids to look forward to and further our own maturity? No prob! I just bought new golf clubs, tennis rackets, Whiskey barrels to age at home, a steak ager to age steaks at home, the home is old but its new to me and it needs some fixing but hey I'm a carpenter, the truck is new-ish and will help with work. And it will come to rescue your husband when you decide you've had your fill of him. Then he will returned to the ever growing horde of men who "just didn't get it" or "never saw this coming", as they realize they were taken completely advantage by the one person who was supposed to have his back.
I was going to write all this. Glad I didn't, I'm drunk. Drink some water and go to sleep brain, thats why we can't take you places....
Edit: spelling. And I apologize for run on sentences. English is my only language. Fuck it sue me.

Again, as so often you are dishonest and use a BS statistic. This study compares married men to all unmarried men. That means divorced men, who have literally half their stuff taken away, are in one group with men who've never been married. Therefore this study is utterly worthless.
[–]PsychedelicFooooker 16 points17 points18 points 3 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link
Yeah divorce ruins men. I know many who have been absolutely ruined and their ex wives are happy go lucky fuckin other dudes in the old house lol. Women make out like bandits from what I’ve seen.

Lives longer - obviously someone will take you to hospital if you had an accident like slipping in bathroom or similar incidents compared that to a single men.
More money - Needs more money for survival, so work more & earn more. Single men don't need that much money to survive. So they earn less.
More reported happiness - idk how you can measure happiness.

Men aren't happier in relationships, they are forced not only to provide for their family but even expected to take care of the children when they come back from work early.
Also, do women live longer? I do not know where you got that false information from since it's widely known that women live more than men.
[–]MelodiousTones[🍰] -1 points0 points1 point 3 years ago (25 children) | Copy Link
Many men, including my husband, take great pride in having a job that supports a family (I work too but for much less) and are eager to hang out with their kids after work.
Yes women live longer than men, but married men live longer than unmarried men.
[–]DoctorCodezZ 3 points4 points5 points 3 years ago (23 children) | Copy Link
I would not talk on behalf of most men based on one person that you know. Most men come back from work and want to relax after their hard-worked shifts since they already spend enough time with their kids, bringing them to places to have fun or buying them stuff whenever they're off work. I am not saying that women don't buy things for their children or bring them places to have fun, but it is mostly the man that does it.

[–]DoctorCodezZ 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (21 children) | Copy Link
No but should that discredit what I have to say?
[–]MelodiousTones[🍰] 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (20 children) | Copy Link
Well, you’re telling me that although I have considerable experience in this area (21 years married, three kids - as well as plethora of friends and relatives in similar situations) that we should all go with your opinion, though you have absolutely zero experience with marriage or children. That’s pretty ridiculous.
Do you keep blocking and unblocking me to keep me from replying? Or is the mods? I keep getting “sorry try again later” unless I wait a little to reply.
[–]DoctorCodezZ 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (19 children) | Copy Link
Even if you were blocked you would be able to reply, and no I am not blocking and unblocking you.
Also, despite not having experience in marriage, guess what? I am the child. I am a teenager and I am able to see enough in life to be able to determine if it is worth it or not to get married. From what I have seen in my 16 years of living is that my dad has not gotten any advantages. He is not only making an income for himself, but for us and his wife, even though my mom has her own job, he gives her hundreds every week.
When you are a teenager, you learn to observe and comprehend what is happening and what the future looks like. I do not see why you are trying to discredit my opinion since I am also an involved party, being the child. Everything I said is from first-hand experience.
My dad gives me things and money without me having to ask and my mom continuously rejects me. In fact, if I were to try to remember the last time she had bought something for me or brought me somewhere, I could not.
Do not get me wrong, I love my mom and all the work she does for us. She works her butt off but so does my dad but my mom doesn't see that. He comes home and is forced to take care of us and I can see how tired he is.
On his free days, he must help as much as he can as well even though he gets out of the house at 7 am and comes back at 10 pm.
All this to say that, I could not see how my opinion is "invalid". If you wanted me to explain one of my points, just ask me to elaborate and I will be able to do it no worries. I do not say anything just for the sake of having something to say.
[–]MelodiousTones[🍰] 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (18 children) | Copy Link
Uh, if your mom works too why should she have to do everything??
Also, I have the experience of being a child IN ADDITION to my marriage and my friends’ marriages. You sound like the child you are!

"Married men live longer than unmarried men" Let me rephrase that: "Men who already have a higher standard of life and therefore have a higher life expectancy are more likely to marry".
[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Longer lives and happiness? Ok, tell that to all the guys who wives cheated with other men and stole the husband's life savings
[–]Zephyr9865 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Women don't magically make men richer, healthier and happier. That would be ilogical.
They just choose to start relationships with men who are already richer, healthier and happier.
And don't forget divorced men, who were destroyed by marriage and are lumped in with unmarried men.
[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I have been married (here in the US), there is literally not a single benifit. I got divorced as amicable as possible, the court, not my ex, still tried to fuck me. Even when everything is fair as can be, even if your soon to be ex wife does not want to harm you, even getting past that hurdle, the system will still try to screw you in some way.
There is absolutely no benefit to getting married as a male. None. You don't need a document to be loved. Any woman, or man, who tells someone otherwise (not literally) is up to something

They will never understand that a “good career” isn’t anywhere near as rewarding as they think it is. That’s why those posts are typically written by younger women who have never been in a high-paying, high-pressure job which pays well into six figures for literally decades. They have no clue about the responsibility and sacrifice associated with those kinds of jobs, let alone the time it takes away from your family, friends, and personal interests. They view it as “power” when it is anything but that.

It’s funny, my wife’s close friends are all professionals with master degrees and doctorates. After having kids, they all, without exception, have either cut their hours drastically or quit altogether. Their husbands are all working extra to try and pay down their student loans that are basically useless now that they realized the corporate world isn’t as fun as they thought it would be. I’ve spoken to her best friend at length about it. She’s a corporate lawyer and was completely devastated when she realized the level of competition and what it would take for her to make partner. Basically miss her kids childhoods and little time for friends and family. And why? Her husband is a doctor in private practice. It was so much more fulfilling to be there, raising her kids while her husband picked up the tab. She laughs at it now, but she blames feminism for lying to her about about how marriage is oppressive and women should and could have it all.
[–]SamLBronkowitz2020 15 points16 points17 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yup. I have a friend who is an anesthesiologist whose husband is a stay-at-home dad. She told me that while the money is nice, she wouldn’t do it again because she misses too much of her children’s lives because she’s always working. But they have no other option which would allow them to have the same lifestyle because he has no college degree or professional training. It’s sad, really. I don’t know my friend’s thoughts on feminism, but they lied to women about a whole lot of things.

i mean, all the other insanity aside... how can you POSSIBLY say this one is in any way true?
I mean, the very nature of relationship is that there are expectations from your significant other. Hell, I love my gf, but there's certain things (both of us do) that we wouldn't be feeling "responsible" for doing if we were both single.
Asinine logic.

I don't use fb all that often but it doesn't help that i generally sit in the centre. I'm too liberal for the right and i'm too conservative for the left. In regard to feminism, whilst i don't object to the principle of women being treated equally i think that a large part of the feminist movement has now shifted to a more female supremacist movement which will only demanded equality in areas that will benefit men. 2 examples of this come to mind, the first was the was during covid where the women's sports team (i can't remember what sport, sue me) demanded to be paid the same as men. So they were offered all offered a contract that was identical to the ones signed by the men's team. They rejected this new contract, they got offered equality but they turned it down because it turns out the women's contract stipulated they are to be paid even whist not playing whilst the men's does not. So they were being paid all the way through look down whilst the men got nothing. That's example number one, example number two is a nit more general as opposed to a specific even, in regards to child custody the mother tends to get preference unless she's proven to be a terrible mother but even then it's a push. Feminists, or atleast the one's i've seen / met, don't tend to think that this wrong. Despite spouting all this equality stuff don't think it should be applied to parenthood. It's just silly, the feminist movement has been reduced down to a place for women who wish to engage in selfish profiteering and misandry under the guise of some sort of crusaders or some other self righteous nonsense.

I’ve yet to encounter someone who could explain why marriage is advantageous to men without dipping into 1950’s stats or the tired ones of married men live longer or married men make more money. Both technically true.
Married men do live longer assuming they stay married and are in a happy marriage. Once they divorce the suicide rate jumps 400% and more than 50% of marriages end in divorce. Married men make more money but work more hours. Work more, earn more but have to support two people now.
Not seeing any advantage, still.

Men get more out of being husbands? By what metric? How is this measured, and by whom? Is there a peer reviewed study on the subject?
And I am detecting a false equivancy between find a relationship and finding a career.

The biggest self-own Feminism ever engaged in was convincing women that marriage was a bad deal for them.
Marriage is objectively, a great deal for women. Evolutionarily, men benefited from having multiple partners and committing to none of them. Women benefited when they could lock down one mate to provide for them and their children.
Financially, marriage benefits women, especially in the case of divorce.
And perhaps most importantly, emotionally/psychologically, marriage benefits women because statistically, women are happier in long-term committed relationships than they are in casual relationships that never lead to anything but meaningless sex.
Feminism is just so unbelievably stupid and harmful to women.

ahhh there is literally ZERO benefit a man gets becoming a 'husband'. He get's all the so called benefits of a committed relationship... by being a committed relationship (not a marriage).
I can only name consequences/risks of attaining that 'husband' title.
Women increasingly only want to marry men who are ambitious / industrious ie good careers. Since men compete with each other rather than do the care bear communitarian thing they raise the standard to where most men and women can’t compete. Women want to complain there are not enough female CEO’s and board members and then complain after quotas there are not enough “economically viable” men to marry.

In this day in time it's pretty even if you marry within your economic class , and nobody is a sahm parent. Now shit is an entire different situation if either party gives up their earning potential to be a sahm parent. While the other works full time.
I was encouraged to get a career by my father. So it's not just men that are encouraged to help achieve greatness or stability financially.
Both my parents owned businesses just for context. So neither fiddled around much finacially. They had goals to be financially stable.
