She's asking you for leadership because she's your first officer.

You punish physically. You're probably less flexible and more authoritarian than she is. The kids see the contrast, so they don't pay her the same respect. The only way they'll pay respect to her is if you show them how they should treat her. How do treat her in front of them? Do you undermine her, or do you provide a unified front with the kids? What books on parenting have you two read?

Dealing with it while at work should be very rare. If it ever happens, it should be because the child is being so out of line that it warrants it. Not because your wife warrants it. Your wife should handle things while you are gone.

With that said, she is your first officer. If your boys are walking all over the first officer while the captain is on shore conducting business then they better have a reckoning when the captain is back on the ship. There should be hell to pay. Forced apologies to their mother etc. In other words, there should be no doubt that you are still in charge regardless of whether you are present or not. They should also know that your wife is the boss when you are not present and that you support her.

I suggest lots of manual labor. There doesn't even really need to be a purpose other than it being a punishment to drive home a point. Have them dig a big giant hole and when they are done have them fill it back in.

First, to me, spanking a kid is never warranted. The bottom line is the kid is going to bring that out when you cannot administer it or are hesitant to do, not to mention, as you stated, they reach an age where it becomes impractical.

Once they reach that age you haven't laid the ground work for what discipline looks like short of a spanking. No judgment here, I know a lot of great parents that do spank their kids, but that's my take.

On the wife, start introducing her as the disciplinarian. Explain the concepts to her and why not giving in and consistency are so important. If a woman shit tests you to see if your worth fucking, then a kid shit tests you to see if they are leading the boat. If they are leading the boat, they are going to act out because they don't feel secure.

Boundary testing and blatant misbehavior from kids is just their version of a shit test. Your first sentence in this post is wrong. If your kids don't respect your wife then you are not on the same page as each other. If you were, then they would not test her because they know they'd end up with the same punishment as when dad is around.

Start drawing a line for her when your at home. "Bobby just crossed a line, bust his ass. This is how and why you do it."

Then point out as they behave better to get more buy-in from her.

Rinse and repeat until they respect mom at all times. It needs to come from her.

Inconsistency in discipline leads them to lack of respect and believe they might get away with it. My consistency means they know how to act when in trouble. If i say go to time out, they go, no resistance, no backtalk, no arguing.

If she says go to timeout they might go, might not, might ignore etc, which further reinforces her inconsistency / lack of follow through. She needs to reinforce what ever the discipline is, even if it means dragging them to time out.

Its really a question of respect for what the parent is saying. They dont respect her, but they do you. Change that (well she has to by reinforcing the discipline).

Sounds like advice that works in other parts of life too eh?

Gain respect, be consistent.

I had four kids in just over 3 years. 3 boys and a girl, and the two older boys would just wear their mom out.

I came home one day to 'wait until your father gets home' to administer the spanking. I realized I was coming home almost EVERY day to spank 1 or more kids.

And that day was the last time I spanked my children. I had a long talk with her and told her she had to discipline them when I wasn't around. Making a 6 year old wait 8 hours for discipline is unreasonable.

That eventually all worked itself out. Make no mistake, she is still Lucifer's personal cock-sucking whore in hell and I divorced her sorry loser ass, but not for this issue.

In general, some (most) kids are little assholes. So, don't feel too bad about it, but there is definitely room for improvement.

I don't think spanking is a great way of discipline, mostly because it evokes a natural physiological response which I believe can be the precursor to violent behavior later in life, particularly when they are under stress.

Better is finding their pressure points and using them as carrots or sticks. i.e. no video games for a week, Pokemon cards go down the garbage disposal (1 for each infraction). Also, positive reinforcement is very powerful, as long as they aren't already spoiled to the max. I like to find punishments that I can dole out at ANY time, things like pushups, or keeping a running tally of how many pokemon cards, action figures (or whatever shit they are into at the moment) are going in the garbage disposal when we get home. Yes, they will freak the fuck out...the first time. (I wonder if anybody has ever noticed the similarities between women and children?...)

Kids are just like women (haha, flipped the script), they are constantly shit-testing, they YEARN for you to put them in their place, they know it means you care and love them.

First get your parenting game on point, establish ridiculously clear expectations and routines with the kids. Once that is in-place and working well, bring your wife on board, teach her how to act, and let it go from there.

The name of the game is consistency. Just like with women. Even if you are on your game all day, you do one pussy-ass thing and your wife's pussy just turned into the Sahara. If you follow through on discipline 9/10 times, that one time is all the opening they need to continue to push and exploit.
