I remember a book that came out a while ago that shows that a lot of what manosphere guys say about evopsych is backwards. It is based on looking at the few hunter-gatherer societies left as well as what can be known about pre and post-agriculture. From what they can tell, paid-bonding and family units didn't become much of a thing until agriculture. Before that humans lived in small nomadic groups and tended towards more communal ownership, and children were raised by the group, and monogamous couples weren't a thing, or so the hypothesis goes.

I've said this a few times. My end point with it though is usually that whether or not evolutionary psychology is real or total quackery is pointless. The majority of guys who are watching these evoshite videos are there for help with dating, and it absolutely will not help you with dating. Nor will learning regular psychology, sociology, any sort of statistics, or really any science at all. It's utterly pointless. It doesn't help to know that "60% of men do this" or "80% of women prefer this" or whatever. Utter pointless crap.

If you are looking to find a relationship, you don't need to know the odds. You need to go out there and make it happen. You don't need to be the kind of man that whatever-percent of women want, you need to be you, and you need to find the whatever-percent of women that find you attractive.

If anything I would say that the absolute worst thing you could do is try to pretend that you're something different. Or maybe really, the worst thing you can do is study those statistics only to realise you don't align with the majority of them and then feel shitty about it. How does that help?

If you spent less time watching all these degrading, poorly sourced, pseudo-science videos and more time actually doing something interesting with your life and socialising with people, you'll do far more to increase your chances of finding a relationship than any research ever could.

I think evolutionary psychology can be valid but it requires a lot more evidence than its theories typically have. Its definitely not a mature field.

I think what you say is mostly true, with the exception of some impressive parts in evopsych. In your opinion what standard would it need to meet for it to be valid?

Edit: the link below gives examples of the evo psych predictions that aren’t just-so stories. Good evopsych is in the minority but they do exist

Evopsych is legit, but its a relatively new field of study so it has to go through a lot more rigorous vetting before we can start definitively using it as a tool for analyzing human behavior.

Not to mention, the greater population barely understands evolution or psychology, let alone the relationship between both. So the problem is that the redpill and other disingenuous groups 's like to abuse people's ignorance and its novelty for their grift.

The discipline is fine, cherry picking unvetted hypothesis without context is garbage.
