Hey man, there are lots of things you may have done wrong, but I'd love to give you some food for thought.

If I do two experiments with you 1) I put your hand in cold water which is about 7/10 on a pain scale for 5 minutes

2) I put your hand in cold water at 7/10 pain for 5 minutes, then in another cold water bucket at 6/10 pain for another 5 minutes

Even though you experience pain for a longer period of time in the second experiment, the first will be remembered as being the worst of the two. That's human psychology, we remember our last emotion during an event to an average of all emotions.

So how can you apply that to dating?

Well most guys take a girl out on a date and kiss her whenever they get the chance, then the date peters out for a while and gets awkward, then the date ends. The last thing she remembers is feeling awkward, so when a guy invites her out for 2nd date, she remembers awkwardness and avoids it.

If instead, you plan out your date so the hot and heavy make out is right at the end before you end the date and go home leaving her wanting more, then the last memory on her mind is 'hot and heavy'. So when you then ask her to a movie night at your place, her saying 'yes please' is all but a foregone conclusion.

Just like stock market, you should leave the date at the peak.

If you text her but she doesn't text back don't text her again you will come off needy. Going on that I would say your not being dominate enough how did you only kiss her on the cheek? I'm curious.

Not enough information at all. Honestly if I could land a first date off a cold approach I would definitely try to go for the lay but maybe that's just me. Maybe during the date when you did kiss her she didn't seem to enjoy it much? Maybe you forced it a bit?

A common reason for this is often that you appear to be trying to hard.

'Dates' in the way most people mean them are reserved for your girlfriend or someone you have been seeing VERY refularly. If she is just a gal you want to get at just go for the casual hangout. "Hey i'm downtown exploring, wanna come grab a coffee or something and find something fun to do?" The lack of a pretense does wonders for a woman's consideration

In my opinion you shouldn't kiss on the first date. To me it seems desperate. I feel like a long hug in the end is better. (For first dates like i said). But of course there are always exceptions. Good luck man
