Moderate the time you spend gaming because you want to cut back some, not because of how someone else might view you. Use a timer if you're worried about getting lost in the game. I would never consider stopping a hobby because someone else might think it's stupid. If a woman doesn't like you because you game, why would even want to be with her?

I was once a very heavy gamer. My life improved immensely once I dropped that shit. I still play the occasional game or two, but there's so much more to life than sitting in front of another screen and mashing buttons.

If you need you xbox for your job, move it into another room, and make sure you have a clock facing you so you can keep track of time. But try getting a job where the gaming is a distant hobby, and you'll get more out of life.

Do you feel that you are spending TOO much time on XBox?
If you can acknowledge this and don't need the money, can you get away with keeping the XBox, whilst keeping your time in check.

It's a willpower thing. I do indulge in video games now and then, even a binge, but to me it's mostly down the list.

Don't sell it fool, most girls do not freakin' care. They judge you on other criteria.

Drastically cut down the time you spend playing video games. Whenever you feel like playing, that should be a cue to go to the gym or go clubbing or whatever.

As long as you don't play while with a girl, there's no problem to it. I once got asked why I played video games. I responded that basically, a video game is an interactive book or movie. You take control of a character that probably has a background, dreams and hopes, set into a scenario where he/she/it interacts with its surrounding. Gameplay is just the same as a narrative POV or how the camera captures the action, it's a medium to express emotions and make the story progress. With a bit of storytelling, you're good to go. Just don't say that about Modern Warfare or Burnout.

Everyone has pretty much nailed it: monitor your own time. I killed a ton of my video game time holes by getting busy as shit at school. Find some high achievement activity you like, and slowly your desire to play will abate significantly.

So. My opinion is

Do not sell the xbox. I have a SNES, N64, PS2, PS3, 360, two surround sound systems, and a TV too big for my small room. Just mention it in a no big deal fashion, I play mine up as a small home theater - and the only seat is the bed ;). Even more so, resale value of systems is shit right now because we are so close to the next generation.
Use it to your advantage - I play movies on mine. It definitely helped though when I found out one of my FWB liked to play Call of Duty. Shit you not. Simply consider it an accessory to your environment, and treat it as such around women - minimally. I have NEVER gotten an indication a girl was "turned off" by my video games. And you are right, everyone loves mario kart. Good party activity to move into kino, and generally have fun with someone.
DO please monitor your time on the system. I suggest getting involved in a few other things; are you in school or working or both? If you can do it with sheer willpower, that is also good; you will develop a hard sense of self control. That is incredibly useful and self rewarding.

Quitting video games made a lot of room in my life for other stuff that add much more value to me as an individual. But then again, even when I was a really hardcore game junky I was getting decent poon... just harder to keep my physical health in order with all that gaming.

My advice would be answer this question: 10 years from now do you want to look back and remember pwning all those newbs in battleground or do you want to remember pwning all that pussy and hitting massive peaks in gym?
