I tend to agree with you. The reality is that women are strong and independent, men need protection.

Count your lucky stars. This is a very rare story. Enjoy this time and being able to raise your kids. Also, be on your toes, it's never really over until the kids are 18 and dirty tricks are pulled by exes, family court judges and both attorneys all the time. Their only goal is to steal as much wealth away from you and your children to enrich themselves as possible and there are zero checks and balance in the family court system. Do not let your guard down, EVER!

You are absolutely not alone and unfortunately, you'll be up against her, her attorney, a family court judge and YOUR attorney along with a gynocentric system and society that only sees you for an ATM machine. All of the players in this little game you've been dragged into will happily use her to extract as much wealth and generational away from you and your kids as possible to enrich themselves. Dragging it out, vague court orders (they want you to keep coming back to "clarify", modify, or figh…

"I just did it to make her happy" I believe this is the reason for all or most men in serious relationships, and many more things are done just to make/keep them happy so there's peace in the immediate future. Of course, the end always turns out the same.

True, but also, the data is mostly buried deep not to be found. Any statistics or data that prevents women/mother/wives in a negative light is tucked away or the studies will be present skewed results to make females look good and males look like the bad people. We are living in a gynocentric society that has allowed for no accountability for their actions. It's far too dangerous for men to become fathers, unfortunately. Good luck finding current, accurate marriage and divorce statistics or any …

The one you marry will not be the same person in 10 years, guaranteed. The only winning move is not to play. At least until family court laws are changed and there's transparency in the system that targets men/fathers. It's just too risky and the road is littered with fathers who were 'extremely careful' when they chose a life partner, only to find themselves broke, broken and indentured while being turned into 2 weekend per month visitors to their children.

Hold on a second, here. There are guidelines and I'm sure if you do some digging you can find a guideline chart from the state's official website. Keep in mind that it's nothing but a money grab. If you're child isn't with you 50% of the time (they should be). DO NOT talk to her lawyer without one yourself. The support system is based on YOUR income, so the more you make, the more you give her. Again, you should have your child half the time so she has a chance to work to handle her financial ob…

I'll add; work on some form of activism to put an end the family court system incentivizing, encouraging and enabling this behavior. You can't change what she did and that's on her, but our legal system should NOT ensure she profits off it while traumatizing children in the process. Sometimes activism will give you some sense of control when, as we know, the family court system and all of the players push you through the system and have their way with you. Doing something to help ensure what's h…

It's hard to believe there is still such a thing as permanent alimony. Shouldn't alimony be rehabilitative? How does this continue to go on and on? How can our society be okay with our courts incentivizing a person to be subsidized by their ex-spouse? It completely infantilizes women. The trauma caused by our family court system to children and fathers is immeasurable and divorce seems to be the biggest wealth transfer ever. Even more so than what the baby boomer generation is passing along to t…

You may want to learn a bit about Feminist Jurisprudence and much more about what has happened. You are in a trapped narrative and it's not helping anyone or future generations. Feminism is equal to Chauvinism. You want to be an Egalitarian. I'm hoping you know the word without having to look it up.

You'd think. Then, we have judicial immunity where judges are free to "rule" how they please with no review (unless you start ~$50k appeal process), no written reason why, no consequences, etc.. Combine that with the fact that they're attorney co-worker friends are all in on the scam to extract as much wealth and generational wealth from fathers and future generations as possible, state bar associations (all friends), lobby groups made up of ...attorneys and ex judges, along with the domestic vi…

This is important for men/fathers to know. Women who initiate divorce (around 80% of the time) plan the divorce for 6 months to a year. They have their single mommy friend legal team, have already talked to a attorney to find out exactly what to do. Thank you for sharing your story. I hope you continue to do so as future generations need to know what will happen to them when the divorce comes.

There's no place you will see the effects of Feminism than in family court. Especially today. It's turned divorce into the new, most successful business model for everyone except fathers...at the expense of fathers. For generations now children have been turned into 2 weekend visitors per month to their fathers. It's an epidemic.

I have looked everywhere and cannot find any instances of this being said. If it is being said, which I doubt, it's certainly not to the degree that it's being made out to be. As a matter of fact, we're only being told it's being said. My hunch is that this is typical Democrat/Feminist propaganda. Has anyone seen the SM post about divorcing their husbands, even deleting them? We will see "the M word" used more than ever now and a ramped-up effort to rile up the base so they can 'fight back". In the US there's what's known as the divorce to Conservative pipeline. The Republicans ran on few issues to keep it simple, so it was definitely not front and center. That doesn't mean it's not real or it was even needed to be used as an issue. The reason there are so many males, especially young males, that are even open to listen to what Republicans say in the first place is because of my comment above. They migrate to conservative circles that "embrace family", responsibility, etc.. They fin…

Don't forget young men witnessing what happened to other male friends and family members in divorce. Losing children, false accusations and a court system that made them the mark in a scheme to shake them down and destroy them financially, emotionally, forcing them to subsidize the state and ex-spouses for the pleasure of destroying them and their family. The single mommy badge of honor and kids, generations now, growing up with meaningful relationships with fathers is an epidemic.

Very well said. True words of wisdom gained through unfortunate experience. But you have a freedom that most men don't. The baby trap is close to ending. Many men are experiencing a form of enslavement, used as a worker bee, scared to speak out, scared of the divorce because they know what will happen to them. Most would never admit that they traded their precious time a freedom for ill treatment and a fearful, abusive ever after.

Glad you're okay. You mom's behavior isn't how adults behave, especially with a family. Maybe a gentle encouragement for a social media hiatus is in order. It's actually a good idea for most, but especially the peer group your mom is in. Tell your dad to be careful. You focus on you because you have a lot of life to live. Be well.

You may be surprised to know you have a lot in common with divorced men. Their children have been turned into visitors for a couple of weekends per month. Their long-term friends "believed the false allegations used in the divorce to get the kids, etc... so those relations are strained if not lost. They don't date because it's become too dangerous, and they've learned they really can't trust the family court system should a marriage happen again. The reasons maybe different but most are broke, b…

Men, young men, especially if your white need to be very, very careful now. You will now be the target even more so than before. Even husbands will be targeted. I think we should especially track the number of divorces that will certainly be spiking in the next year. The family court system in place already makes you a mark in the scheme. Just like Amber heard said Johnny Depp was an "abusive monster" and took pictures of him passed out and staged scenes with drugs on the table. The incentives have been around forever, but they have now skewed so much in favor of mothers and that they are irresistible. Couple that with the wealth inequality, the fact that most have to work 2 jobs and have a 'side hustle' to just pay for health insurance we have many desperate economic situations added to the knowledge of how the male ex-spouse can be used to 'get a leg up with not too much effort. At this point the only answer is to demand male oral contraception. This will give males autonomy over their reproductive health. The 6+ forms of female contraception clearly aren't working. Also, no form of female contraception involves dulling physical sensation and I would bet the rate of use would drastically decline if this were the case. As mentioned, the only choices males have is abstinence or vasectomy. A vasectomy is NOT so easily reversable as proponents make it out to be and abstinen…

This. So much this. You know, it'd be one thing if it were only the behavior of the Ex. That would be tolerable and something that a man/father could come to terms with and move on accepting that he made a bad choice in a mate. In the US one of the 1st things men/fathers learn is that your lawyer's first duty is to the court, not you as a client. The attorneys, judges, and other players in the process are all office co-workers and the procedure lays out all of your finances for them all to see and proceed how they see fit. I'm not sure about Canada but from my viewpoint and the spaces I've been in regarding men and fathers in divorce is - men are disposable on every account except what they are able to pay. So sorry about this. Yea, it's a pretty common tactic that's used to begin proceedings. See 'silver bullet strategy'. Usually, they get control of the kids, house, vehicles, friends, employers, your reputation and you pay a lot of money over the years for them to do it to you. They are supported, encouraged, and applauded by the family court system to do so. I think every first post in the sub begins with a notion of disbelief. You got this. I'm going to chime in and say this sub was crucial in helping me understand I wasn't alone and what I was going through was common. There needs to be a public push for male oral birth control. Men can regain agency over their reproductive rights. The 6 or so forms of female birth control don't seem to be working, even though none of them dull physical sensation. It's hard to believe science cannot achieve this.

This is why there are no actual standards written in state and local laws that are actual guidelines for their favorite saying, "the best interest of the child". It allows judges to "rule" against children with no explanation needed. It's the reason there's no judicial review, no case review, and the only option is to $50 appeal to an appellate court that will never overturn a trial court judges opinion. It allows rulings without a written statement as to why the ruling was made.

NPO - National Parent's Organization is the best I know. They have worked behind the scenes in the states that have past the bills. They know better than to outright say "Fathers" in anything they do because they know how fathers are treated so they say "parents" even though they know better. It is way out of hand, you're right. If you can call the Ohio legislatures, donate, speak out, anything helps. We have let it get out of hand.

NPO seems to be the best chance we have. They work behind the scenes and they need help. They are the ones responsible for bringing about the 5 states that currently have mandatory equal 50/50 shared custody laws enacted. They need help. Don't be put off by parents in the name. They are smart enough to know what happens anytime the word "father" is mentioned concerning children. They have made progress. 5 down 45 to go. I'm sure they'd appreciate anyone's help.

I see. I think all states are "no fault" states, it's just that some also have the option of fault divorce, too. In the 70's Governor Ronald Reagan created No Fault divorce in C.A. He said it was his biggest mistake. " the judge has made it very clear that she will not give my ex what she wants because of her affair." ~ I think that's what judges should do as far as alimony and post separation support. This is quite common and the family court system actually incentives this behavior because there are no repercussions for it. The outcomes are considerably more favorable for the ones that want it all. Most of these situations are accompanied by false allegations of abuse that are almost always believed. The current environment says to this type of person: "do what you want and if you get caught just divorce because you will get the kids and a step up in life." Demand family court reform.

Yes, the judge can do whatever they want with oversight. Unfortunately, the chances of accountability for adulterous females are all but absent. There may be a case or two but the current atmosphere and state of our family court system incentives the behavior. It's a pay day and a financial step up for the adulterers that are female. If you've ever experienced this or know someone who has, or even if you're just a male, the place to change this is in the family court system. Demand 50/50 equal custody of children. Only 4 states currently have this in place, REGARDLESS of what you hear. Mothers get majority physical custody if a case goes to family court. Fathers always have been and are getting more and more to only be weekend visitors to their children and children are not seen enough with men. This causes the attitude and …

I'm so sorry that happened. I guess there's never been any accountability for her actions and what she's done. In essence, that's the message: taking children away from a father is what's in the best interest of a child. I used to think it was very much frowned upon and maybe that's true to an extent, but not by judges in the family court system. All she has to say is that there's a better job opportunity, or better housing available, or that she's moving to marry a new spouse and have a family …

I am in your position, but the time percentage is reversed. I know the kids don't care about means, affairs, etc... I believe in 50/50 regardless. She must've REALLY effed up if she (I should say the kids) gets 30%. Seems pretty rare if cases make it in front of a judge.

You have a unique perspective on it. How is the 70% time calculated? Is there a formula or something? What would be best for your kid(s)? Regardless of who effed up? Honest question. I know there are many angles.

Right. Seems to be no accountability. None for perjury and false allegations in court, none for lying on financial affidavits, none for taking a child (sometimes across state lines) from the father and denying a relationship, none for financial marital misconduct, and the list goes on and on. I regards to alimony; I believe a restorative model would make sense. Family court as it stands now was created by attorneys, for attorneys, and uses Judges (ex-attorneys) to extract as much wealth from current and future generations as possible. The SOP is to cause as much conflict between parents to get them into court and/or use their service. They know that parents will spend and do ANYHING for their kids. That's why they're against it. I know you know though. The providers are always the marks.

Taking away the incentive of a "winner take all" system is a good start. Automatic 50/50 physical custody would force negotiation in mediation. Now there's no incentive for women to negotiate. Combined with alimony, post separation support, government assistance, etc... It's a big part of a payday when they know they'll get 90%. Custody is the 1st of many needed reforms and I agree with you. But it is a good step. Also, most fathers want fight for their kids because they know they'll lose and me…

The latest family court attorney strategy regarding prenuptial agreements is the claim they were signed under duress. A court order of any kind is only as good as the judge that will enforce it. CA does not do this. Be careful on wording. There's "presumes 50/50 custody states'" but they don't do it and have NO judicial mandate that maximum equal amount of time be a starting point and a JUDICIAL mandate. In the world we live in today were parents have to work 2 jobs, or 1 job that works 60 hours a week it's really too much to ask one parent to be the only parent 90% of the time. This forces one parent to maintain the other's lifestyle, even after dividing property, retirement funds and the need to pay their set of bills. Comparatively, this seems like a decent working co-parent relationship, It has to be tough, but it's probably better for the kids. Not sure if you've received the advice to keep some kind of recorder on at all times. Like a security cam set up during every interaction. Some states say it's okay if only 1 person know they're being recorded- others say 2 have to know. It can be the best protection. If it's not a personal device and in the room or anywhere for security, it's safer. Check the recording laws in your state. Hard to disagree with anything you're saying. I'd like to think there's hope for the future, but it seems to be perpetuating itself. Yes, I have not yet met a woman who stayed with their husband untill death parted them. Maybe 3 generations ago, but even among my grandparents the only examples I know of are 2nd marriages. I wonder where we could find the actual statistics for this, because I can't seem to think of anyone in my circles of grandparents either. Edit: Found this - "According to the …

And it keeps going until kids are 18, and in some cases beyond then. Some states have permanent alimony. Some men have had to get insurance policies to keep paying even if they checked out. It can even be a terrible existence, even from the freaking grave.

A shelter for men? Well, my 1st thought is that that's great. But when I think of the reason for it, it's sad and crazy. So, it's a shelter for men who've been accused of rape, lost everything, and have nowhere to go? And most have been falsely accused?
/r/Divorce_Men09/06/22 08:18 PM

Then go through it again with someone you thought wouldn't be like that are you talking about a 2nd marriage that turned into the same thing happening? I think there should be a place where children of this process can share their stories. If the message can't get through with men/fathers, maybe the children's point of view and experiences would get some sort of attention.

Right, "well, at least I'm not in jail or homeless" is a good outcome. I mean, something is seriously wrong here. And that's not including the trauma that happens to any children involved. Even after the luck of not being in jail and having a living space, most are broke, indentured, are turned into visitors to their children. If they're older they can't retire, especially in states with permanent alimony. I'm amazed at how long this has been happening and how deep the corruption can go. There a…

former marriage where I was routinely lectured about the patriarchy and how it was my fault as a man. This is nothing short of abuse but it is hard to rid myself of the mindset I hate this but am so glad I'm not the only one. I was responsible for all the "patriarchy" over all time. I was the face of it.. and I would pay the price. And still do, really. Divorce and leaving it on made the abuse worse and now the family court is an ally to my abuser.

Wow, very true. See perjury in family court. False allegations are actually encouraged in family court as a strategy to gain an advantage. Ex partes based on DV claims, stealing children because "they aren't safe.." etc... This is because there's no accountability or negative effects for making them. There's no burden of proof, so bad behavior is actually a tactic. In a court of law none the less. What I've learned from the JD/AH hearing is that perjury and defamation "have a really, really, hig…

The Republicans do not have men's best interest no matter what they say, but they'll act like they do by "treating" men (in this case, giving fathers equal custody). Thinking about this. So, could this be a ploy to pretend to care about father's equal custody and introduce legislation in order to lure left leaning males into the party? Is it all just a gimmick of sorts?

Do it! It's important. VERY important and left voices are needed. The reason it exist in the first place is because good people have sat back and not spoke up. You know, the MLK quote and all. How is this allowed? The only answer I really have is this: 1) No one realizes that this can happen to a person in court. Until they realize it's happening to them...then it's too late. Fathers are too broke, tired, and indentured to be effective in combating it. 2) Good people sit back and do nothing because 'they don't want to get involved'. What's the quote? And let's make sure we have accountability in family court too. False allegations are a tactic used to gain the advantage in the winner take all court system. Attorneys encourage ex parte's, RO's, DV reports to use as a strategy. No burden of proof in family court, no judicial review, and no accountability for perjury and the false allegations that ruin children and parent's (mostly father's) lives. Accountability is needed to reform the system if there's to be any integrity at all.

So true, good advice, and accurate. Unfortunately, if the issues are family related, they fall under the large umbrella of family law. I would argue it is exactly the wild west. It's amazing that all civil rights are lost in CIVIL court which includes family law. No burden of proof, no judicial review, no judicial checks and balances. It's the difference between having to work and do something productive in life and doing nothing to get a monthly couple of checks.

I never considered the behavior toward a child of a husband/father. Unbelievable. And the family court system seems to make sure she got a nice payday for doing it to you and your dad. All of that hard work deserved lots of $$. And you had to deal with Stepmother issues too? I imagine any mental health issues cropped up because of both these people in your life and the Romanian woman probably played on the bi-polar using here experience to trigger you more. Woah.. You were able to do this without a attorney? Good. I'm surprised the cops told her to cease and desist. It's just straight slander, but I guess it's hard in this day and age (from what I hear) to have those, and defamation, charges stick. Did you witnesses go to the police too? Or did they file an affidavit? Imagine all of the guys who weren't able to get ahead of the game like you did. They get charged, then they're broke and/or in jail. Life ruined. This sounds about right. This is the family court divorce industry created by state reps (ex-attorneys), for attorneys, and implemented by judges (ex-attorneys) that have unchecked judicial power to extract as much wealth from parents (mostly fathers) and future generations to enrich themselves. There's no such thing as burden of proof so false allegations against men are the norm. Equal amounts to live on is a joke as the default position is that the mother is expected to live the same lifestyl…

Right. I've been delving into Street Epistemology for these reasons. It a Socratic-like method of asking questions so they come to their own conclusions. I really want to know it better because it can really help a conversation not be so adversarial when you're ultimately questiuoning someone's judgement. And yes, NO body wants that. Especially when it's not sought after.

If someone doesn't ask for advice you need to realize that giving it anyway is rarely well received, even if they are polite about it. While I agree with this to some degree. You simply don't know what you don't know. If you don't even know the questions to ask, or that there are questions to ask, how do you ever find out vital information that you need for your well-being?

I f nothing fundamentally changes, especially in the family court system, this will only be a short-lived spotlight that highlighted a 'rare and unfortunate situation'. If this message isn't amplified and transferred into action in the family court arena, it will be a small blip on the radar. Everyone will just move on to the next thing and men and fathers will be sitting in their same pocket.

There's attention being given to men that have been abused, false allegations towards men and how damaging it is. I'm considering the fact that a big factor in pro-life opinion is to expand the pool of fathers to extort for Title IV-D funding. The more opportunities there are for income the better. A woman who has exercised her choice to terminate a pregnancy means one less chance to use the usual family court corruption to make one of the parents a mark. My exact thoughts. I've been doing my best to talk about this trial and I always bring it to family court. Family court encourages and financially incentives the Amber Heard-like abusers. It's tailor made for them. Edit: I'd even says mothers and judges taking away children from fathers and/or making them every other weekend visitors to fathers is an epidemic situation.

This case needs to be tied to family court and the fact men/fathers always have to defend against false accusations by spouses just like Amber Heard. The system is tailor made for the personality of abusers like her to take advantage of the fact it is biased towards men and it actually financially incentivizes them to lie and this causes children to become visitors to their fathers and extract as much wealth as possible from future generations while forcing men into indentured servitude. When ta…

I'm using the Amber Heard / Depp trial to bring the focus to family court. All of our stories are amazingly similar. The judge said that she actually "had a right to keep my child away from me". As if I'd done something or was a criminal. Right. It allows the state to support someone who doesn't need it by allowing them to hide their income. I'll say it again. It's really odd how the IRS encourages hiding on income. Also, this reminds me a premise that's a part of the family court system and one that the Florida Bill 1796 addresses: The notion that a family has to remain at the 'same financial status' as during the marriage. Something a lot of people don't realize unless they're neck deep into the family court system, and broke, and indentured, is the fact judges very often force the parent (mostly fathers) to pay the other ex-spouses legal fees. This incentivizes the other parent to always go to court because they will not have to pay their legal fees, and it's a way to financially hurt or destroy the other parent. It's different in every state, but the amount of time a child spends with the other parent is factored in as well. Also, in Florida, alimony is tied directly to the Title IV-D program. This increases incentive for the state to extract as much wealth from you as possible, beyond child support. This lady is an absolute hero. Center For Parental Responsibility I love the name of the organization. I think it's just in MN but this is the energy needed to make any progress.

The 'First Wives" group, I'd never heard of them. Well, they have benefited more than anyone, I bet. Well, other than attorneys. Sounds right. These groups claim the bill would be 'retroactive", which of course isn't true, to scare. I can't believe how the family court system has been able to extract wealth, eliminate any civil rights, and destroy people for so many years. Why isn't there a large, coordinated effort to stop this and have meaningful reform? I know the lobby groups are powerful bu…

Well, not there yet. It has to be actually signed into law and there's some pretty well funded opponents. For example, lawyers. The Florida Family Bar Association is up in arms and really fighting it. Weird huh... lawyers not wanting legislation reducing parent an ex-spouse conflict. It's as if they make a little less money if this were to become law.

Yea, I understand that and I'm sorry it is like this. But you care and now know how people think. So, the idea now is to figure out how to help them come to their own conclusion, without being adversarial cause that'll get you nowhere fast, that will bring them around to the fact everyone needs to be treated equally. It's been drummed into our brains for so many generations that this is just how it is. It's a programming that has to be undone. They don't even realize themselves. I don't have imm…

"Because the true family is only mother and children, anybody can be a father" - My main Teacher This is the prevailing belief, especially in the family court system. Everyone's 'teacher' teaches this philosophy. The perils that face men in the family court system are never made known prior to marriage are purposefully hidden and aren't as obvious as what should be commonsense concerns such as conscription, circumcision, etc... When I first was made aware of the bill it was by the groups that think 50/50 physical custody is okay and they were making a big deal about the retro-active aspect. When I read the bill it said nothing about that. It won't be implemented until June 2022. Looking at these groups, it makes sense why they want to spread mis-information. I would think the older bill could've been modified to not be retro-active, but what do I know. To me, none of this should even need legislation. I mean, it takes …

I like the NPO. No chapter that's active in my state, though. I like that they frame the debate in terms of the children losing parents as opposed to Fathers losing children. Although both are true, children have no say, even more so than fathers (well, let me think that one through a bit more) but I'm looking for allies. For the most part I will frame family court issues in terms of 'parents' and 'children'. We know it happens to fathers but framing it this way creates adversary that divides. T…

I'm sure many groups and possibly states will hire PR firms to develop scare tactics and place more wedges issues between men and women to make male birth control non- viable. The problem is that the system is set up for failure. Women are actively encouraged and rewarded for divorce This is important. I think this is a very important concept. While men's right absolutely supersedes left vs right, female vs male, Republican vs Democrat it should be pointed out that if a person aligns with progressive values, they should care about Men's Rights issues. I think marrying is dangerous and irrelevant. It's simply a business contract that's designed to devastate fathers and children while enriching the state, attorneys, and mothers. You don't need an attorney to enter it, but you need 1 or 2 to end it, really. It has nothing to do with love, devotion, and declaring it all out loud. That can be done without a marriage license. Yea, that stood out to me too. It's huge. Also - a presumed lower standard of living when a divorce takes place- The current theme is the family must maintain its current financial status which is impossible after splitting a household and paying for attorneys. I think this is an important observation and creating political infighting is a tactic used in every important issue where there is a special interest in making a lot to keep any meaningful change from taking place. I disagree. Most fathers do not fall on their swords. They go to court and the divorce industry gets them. It's incentivized financially for the mother, BOTH attorneys, the judge, and the state (Title IV) to extract as much wealth as possible. I happy for you and OP, but please don't speak for about other fathers that have been turned into visitors to their children, are broke, abused by the family court system, and indentured to a system that's a 60 billion dollar a year industry. Since you guy…

I see what you're saying, but keep in mind the father (mostly) has already been reduced to visitation of their children in order to ensure there's an unequal amount of overnight time spent with the parent. This time, along with income, is a large factor in determining child support and alimony. The fact that there's isn't a judicial mandate in any state (a couple have tried to come close) to maximize child time with each parent is a tip-off that the system is designed to not work fairly toward e…

Don't forget that the family court system is set up in America to make the main family provider the mark. The system is funded, lobbied, supported, and run by the same attorneys, Judges (ex-Attorneys), administrators and peripheral professions that reap big financial benefits from it being incentivized for women (mostly) to change and get their pay day too. You'll have to be the bad person because it justifies their reasoning. You are an abuser, you are the narcissist, you are the unreasonable o…

Good point. I didn't realize CPS was a big of an issue until I looked around after your comment. You're right it's a huge problem, it seems. A lot of interests are being served that aren't related to the children. Why do think the Family Court system isn't interested in "institutional expansion and self-preservation" as well? Interesting. Well, he has a platform. But you're right, the whole industry is corrupt inside out. But if there's a way to get sunlight into the dungeon of family court, I think it'd be helpful. I have to agree. I don't think most men even realize this. It's not like there's a class or required reading. Or a layer to get you into the business contract that you need to get out of the contract. Genuinely curios. What can social services do for him? I'm not sure what men's rights groups can do either other than suggest a family court attorney, but that's a problem...because it's a family court attorney. If he takes the kids he will be charged with kidnapping. While this would be good advice, unfortunately it's a good way for him to lose his child(ren). If he leaves, she will say he's abandoned his family. This goes a long way in family court, and he will instantly become a visitor to his kid(s) by only being able to see them every other weekend. He works full time so that makes him a provider and he will be responsible for post separation support, child support (because there's little chance he will have shared equal custody with his child), and alim…

So very true. The divorce industry is a racket sponsored by, and for attorneys, judges, and state to keep the money rolling in by separating children from parents and extracting as much wealth from future generations as possible. All contrived and legal. Until enough people know and speak up and out about what is happening to children and parent's civil rights, the family court steam roller will continue to destroy already troubled families.
/r/Divorce_Men31/01/22 04:42 PM

If you don't mind me asking, how are you fighting for 50/50? Is there a permanent custody order? My understanding is there has to be a 'significant change of circumstance', and of course a judge determines if that change is 'significant enough' to alter custody. It's such a racket and so many children have lost important time with parents. I'm up for any ideas on how to fight.

Exactly. The financial discovery process is used to find out how much they can squeeze the mark, who's the main financial provider for the family. Could your attorney just have that info so they know how much they can charge you? I had no idea of the abuse that would come, From Judges, courts, attorneys, the dungeon that is family court. None of this includes the damage and trauma that is caused to the children that are alienated from their parents. Fiorst by a mother, then the courts that turn fathers to visitors. You bring up great points with Parental alienation too. Cheers! Also, I think your quote: "Children are extremely adaptable to a variety of situations. They have more resilience than adults think. Great question. I believe, and research supports, the better alternative is 50/50 maximum equal time with both parents. There are many ways to make a schedule that works for the family and children. The more I've learned the more I've realized 50/50 is rare. It's not a mandated starting point for judges to make sure the child is with the parents for a maximum equal amount of time. Most father's ask for this and it's a myth that "some dad's don't ask to be in their children's lives 50% of the time. Good point. It's the fact that 'equal protection under the law' means nothing. There's not even a starting point accepting that he is a parent. Clearly, the lesser person and unable to care for a child as a mother could.
/r/Divorce_Men20/01/22 03:30 AM

I thought so too. You're exactly right about the primary caregiver. Also, Usually the primary care giver became primary because they alienated the child from the other parent. Causing further damage to 'win' a case. Just the term "custody" is sickening when talking about a child.

Basically, my ex-wife envisioned me simply disappearing -- completely -- from her life (with one minor exception: that big fact check deposited into her account every month) Yes. AND if by some chance it wasn't her idea, her lawyer made it so. Lawyers need the conflict to feed the family court beast. It's structured this way on purpose. EVERYBODY wins, except children and fathers.

The self-justification goes far. Plus, it is incentivized monetarily for them to do that. They will make up whatever story to the children, the court, friends, family members to justify it. This is how the system is set up. AND in the process, the ones who set up the family court system and lobby for it to stay that way get uber rich in the process. Then you have the states making money through this: Why Family Court believes in NO Equal Shared Parenting Time Share if you can, please.

Well, not really catching up, but I see your point. Unfortunately, using the phrase "best interest of the child" without judicial mandates to make maximum equal time a starting point is only lip service. EVERY state says equal parenting is in the best interest. It's a trick, really. If you'd like to know more and share so more know what's really going on reform can begin.

The system allows one to live off of the state indefinitely and THEN marks the provider for lifetime payments that are unreasonable and never held to account. Here's a good idea on why. Share if you can.

This is for anyone about to start the process or in the process. The family court system is corrupt and incentives mothers to lie, falsely accuse fathers of abuse-domestic or child, makes the provider for the family a mark for a legalized shakedown (alimony). It ensures the others attorney's fees are paid for by fathers (mostly). It provid…

And you'll really get a kick out of our family court system where you have to pay to get abused more and the abuse towards you will be sanctioned, and you lose your kids, your house, all of your life savings, etc... Absolutely. It has to be a starting place. Then there has to be actual proof. The proof has to meet a standard. A trick of family court is that the judges don't have to explain their decisions and there's no actual burden of proof. It exploits the civil side of the law.
/r/Divorce_Men08/01/22 12:41 AM
1

Right- I don't know why the downvotes. Maximum equal shared parenting time should be the starting point and there needs to be burden of proof for a decrease in time. But no judge should not provide maximum equal time unless there is a compelling reason with actual proof. Family court is famous for no standard of burden of proof and use this concept to deprive parents of civil rights and deny children access to parents all the time.

This exactly. And this is EVEN in a presumed equal shared custody state. AZ is one of the few. Edit: None have a mandate that judges must start from a position of ensure maximum equal shared parenting time. If you can find state statues or laws where it's spelled out that there is equal shared parenting, please point me to the way. Yep. Exactly. Men's groups. BUT- there are Parent Groups and children's rights groups getting on board. My take is we need to ignore the 'men' aspect of it. Focus on the children losing a parent and it happening to the few mothers it happens too. Run with that and once enough people pay attention because of the 'poor single moms', the public will start realizing it's more than moms. custody orders are a myth- Very true.

50% of all marriages end in divorce. 60% and 70% for 2nd and 3rd marriages. 80% of all divorces/separations initiated by the woman. 90% of all custody orders given to mother's. I don't think the court should "give the children" to one parent. Both should have maximum equal time so both can be involved in a child's life. This whole 'winner take all and other parent only visits a couple of weekends per month" game is a problem. When both parents are equally involved the abuse get spotted sooner and the parent that would "win" the child won't feel entitled to alienate the other parent. There has to be a mandate of maximum equal shared parenting time.

I guess the idea the judge hinted at that you didn't put in the post was that judicial oversight over the process and the spending on experts would be a way to start curbing this problem. Agree, but It's too entrenched to form oversight. I believe there needs to be awareness first so Americans can start making a big deal about it to get the oversight needed.

If they had a plan to head off what they know is coming, they would not be needed, and this would severely limit the money one has to pay them. It's the building a perfect light bulb theory. If you are going to stay, have video and recording t all times because her attorney will encourage her to call the police for domestic violence. Right- that was my point in highlighting that. Mandates for a starting point of maximum equal shared parenting time for each parent have to happen. This ruling ....reeks. exactly. Like most of them.

I agree with this. The stories are all 99% of the same before or going into divorce and they are all 99% the same during or post divorce. All horrible outcomes for men/fathers. By helping to protect them and give an idea as to what to expect the surprises will be limited as much as possible it will be the most helpful thing the sub could do. Maybe a certain call for activism and spreading awareness so more can become aware of what's happening to the children of fathers caught in the abusive syst…

If you do so much as yell one time She will do this if you don't yell. Good advice here. Record, document, establish you are primary care giver. If she's drunk at the house around the child, call the cops on her. Do not let her have the child alone as she can easily take the kid and get an ex parte or restraining order against you to where you don't see the child until temporary custody hearting gets it worked out. It's good to hear a just outcome in these cases. I know in my case, none of that would've mattered. I could've shown a video of her beating the kids and it would not have made a bit of difference. And I'm not exaggerating. The fix was in before it even went to a hearing. Really suspicious.

All of it basically stolen from the kid's futures; and yours. The default position should start at maximum equal time with each parent and work from there. It's designed to extract as much money as possible from parents. It preys on the fact that parent swill do/spend anything for their children.

Please get yourself familiar with the family court system and fathers rights groups. There are many things working against you. You were the primary provider for the family. Send a cease and desist order through an attorney. A nice scary letter or email should suffice. If you hear about anything else - sue. There needs to be accountability for this behavior. BUT - weigh how much you want to invest emotionally in this against finding new positive people to make friendships with. Maybe a combination of both. That's a traumatic thing to go through. This resonated with me. I've been through the abuse; by Ex AND the court system, and lost everything too. Only have my child every other weekend. The idea of that happy life is what I really lost. My hot take: She has been planning to divorce for at least a year. She found her dream home that she will get in the divorce and forever proceeds from your business. She is spending money because it will be a big factor (more money)in the money you will have to give her before the divorce is final (post separation support) because 'keeping the current standard of living' is the goal when this is decided. I'm sorry you're dealing with this. It seems pretty par for the course from what I'm learning in my 2.5 years so far. The real sad thing is how a family court system and judge really want do much about it to help your kids. I have learned violating court orders means nothing in family court. I absolutely do. My only child. I have provided a proper home for the duration of the marriage. Submitted many pictures of it and the child's own room to the court. The other was living with a roommate and did not have a separate room, had moved 2x in the span of a year (not very stable). Are you familiar with the family court system? Stay strong, and you have my empathy. Something that seems to hep me a bit is to focus on the system that doesn't appeal to our better angels. If I focus there I feel like I'm doing something for the future and others and don't stay as focused on my situation. Thanks for sharing your story. I think it needs to be heard far, wide, and loud so others know what's happening to children and parents.

What seems to be helping me at this point is trying to bring awareness and work towards doing something about it so future children and future parents won't have to endure this. Try to focus on the system that allowed this behavior to come out of someone rather the someone. Ultimately there's no getting over it. Acceptance and forgiveness like u/Funny_Wolverine_9 says. They give the impression that 2 workers at a company do the exact same job and a women gets paid less for it. I don't think that's accurate. This charade is another reason to make ALL incomes paid by ALL employers transparent. Employers should have nothing to hide. Hiding pay enables wealth inequality in general, not…

This is a happy story. A RARE happy story. Glad to hear it. My alimony was a shakedown that her attorney, my attorney, and the judge all participated in. The 2 attorneys 'negotiated' back and forth. All with the backdrop of: "well, you should take this because you know this judge is a "mommy" judge, you've already seen how she turned you into a visitor to your child for no reason at all. They did 'negotiations' in the courthouse, under a threat of going in front of the judge if negotiations don'…

I'm going to agree with you. And also say this pitting the genders against each other is the same concept as pitting races and political parties against each other. Done to divide so nothing can get accomplished to change the actual problem. The problem is, as it always has been, found when you follow the money.

You're such a breath of fresh air. I'll also say I know a mother who lost her child by the courts. It's mostly, but not all men. The real issues we need help with are actually constitutional civil rights. There is no burden of proof in family court, no 'innocent until proven guilty standard, and no equal protection under the law. Family court is different court system that was specifically created to seize money. I think the next time you're in a conversation with anyone you can frame it as Gran…

Wow. Eye opening. I only have my child 6 nights/month. Only weekends. I can't even take or picj my child up from school. Father to visitor. Had a decent job and was a rare opportunity before Covid and lost it too. I'm expecting the same treatment. If you don't pay child support you go to jail. This is the same as debtors prison. They figured out s way to have it even though "there's no such thing" anymore. Like your friend I've also learned court orders mean nothing when it comes to mother's beh…

I tend to agree with the premise. Patriarchy claims men cannot raise children, claims women cannot provide for themselves and/or children. Family Court statistics bear this out.

This is all really informative. I think the social stigma is what isn't getting the issue of a corrupt family court system noticed. (US- but probably everywhere) You're also right that men don't economic, emotion, moral or any support what-so-ever. It's a system that's been rigged by states that receive large financial incentives to have child support that's propagated by Judges, Divorce Attorneys, 'women's rights groups, and state representatives. It's simply supported by the social stigma. Mos…

Parents (mostly Fathers) turned into visitors by the state of their children, by the state, in an instant. Map: Father/Child Percentage Each State Reframe this issue when speaking with people about it. Ex: How Much Time do your sons get with their children? How much time do paternal grandmothers and grandfathers get to spend with their grandchildren? Support Equal Sharing 50/50 Custody groups in your state. We have to let sunshine in on this problem. Which of you had the largest income for the duration of the marriage? IMO it's a good chance she did the work with the card since you're not able to see statements. I'm guessing she deposited the $100k into unknown institutions from the card. I wonder why your attorney isn't just pushing subpoenas if she's already pushing back on simple discovery. Not sure about your state but I'd be going after that. I'm no attorney though. It's curious how he said 3k to do it. Well, it actually makes since kno…

Sorry for late response. If she's not producing documents- she's hiding things IMO. Don't be so sure she wouldn't be able to figure out digital currency. Would you think she'd do any of this at all? It's easy to have a digital wallet. Always has been. I wouldn't assume that at all. Especially if she's been planning. Which is usually the case. She's been planning for years. She could've gone to Walmart over the last 4 years and gotten cash back every time, made extra trips, gone to different stor…

When this happened to me I learned it's a common story and tactic used. Squander any family funds because generally speaking the wife is in charge of the finances. You know, trust your life partner and all. My biggest mistake. Go to the bank and request all the records you can. Then just go straight for the subpoena. Don't mess around. If it doesn't make sense to hire a forensic accountant. Do the work yourself by comparing the bank records you can get from your bank. Maybe do this first and loo…

Don't forget fathers loosing their kids in family court. Unable to defend false accusations because there's no burden of proof. Judges believe children only belong to the mother and there is no standard of equal time spent with both parents. This discrimination also effects children. Family courts turn fathers into visitors and ATM machine through the over burden of amount of child support payments mothers are awarded. Delve into this. You'll be astonished at what's happening in America and all …

Yep, agreed. We have to raise awareness. Transparency. Call out judges and attorneys. Let as many people know what's happening. It's much worse with kids too. Aside from the trauma they're put through. You loose them. AND THEN the money extortion portion of the proceedings begin. It's literally insult to injury. Then how do you recover to be there for your children when they ate older. Lawyers have sponsored this whole process. The one who makes the most income is the blood in the water for the …

Well, if we're involved in the fam court system, it's up to us too. Not just other people. Parents (mostly Fathers) and children are suffering and damaged every single day in this system. While the lawyers get richer, richer, richer. They love the conflict and deliberately set parents up for conflict.

I think it's too hard for people to keep up the effort of a page, make a living to feed the beast, keep from being depressed, when no one pays attention til it happens to them. It's made to keep people unorganized so there's status quo.

Right, I forgot the " + " sign. What I see missing is cohesion. I think if it's framed as children's civil rights and highlight how children are being ripped from their parents (which is true) and don't just call it "father's" right. Call it Parent's Rights to include mother's too. There are a lot of Mom's that loose custody too. Not near as many of course. Ultimately, it's a Civil Right's issue. That worksheet really means nothing in my case and researching in Father's Rights groups. Just like court orders. Doesn't mean any more than the paper it's typed and written on. Judges rule supreme and fathers are food for the family court beast.
/r/Divorce_Men09/08/21 09:51 PM

Nah- nice sentiment. The worksheet does not supersede what ever a judge wants to happen. It's like the saying "best interest of the child". Nice happy talk and thoughts. But really, judges have complete discretion to do whatever they want. And most turn fathers into visitors and ATM machines. Poke around on FB for Father's Rights groups. You get an accurate picture as to what's really happening in family court.

There's "supposed" to happen. Then there's what Judges make happen. Unfortunately, for fathers - it's very, very rare they pay no child support. Most get their children taken away in order to pay the system more child support. There needs to be more cohesive groups of activist.

This is so true. Just one call to the house for domestic violence will give her all she needs to add a DV to whatever she's planning. A common tactic. Even if for some reason you don't go to jail. The cops have still been called for DV and a judge's and attorneys love this. It's a catch 22. Leave the home and you're abandoning the family. Stay and get a fake domestic violence charge. Family court- the billion dollar beast of an American industry.

Are you sure this isn't just Post Separation Support for the 1 year period. Then you will be "negotiating" or have a hearing on the amount of alimony you'll pay? Depending on state, I believe it's around half of the length of marriage at the 10 year mark.

Exactly right. I also wonder how many men don't realize they're in abusive relationships or have been the victim of coercive control. I never realized until AFTER I was away from the situation just how abusive it was. I had been conditioned myself by our culture. I'm embarrassed to even say I had no idea. This is how I feel but this time is outside of the time specified in agreement. Atty says it's been so long since seeing child that it will not look good to turn down offered time. Have filed contempt motion but not on calendar til later. Other party is absolutely dictating my time. I'm amazed by new kid therapist's lack of concern for this despite the 'co-parenting' mantra. Why making it hard? - I'm sure that's what the new kid therapist is thinking too and I understand. I'm most likely going into the home of a couple. Which is the ultimate real reason for the shenanigans and how this whole process started. The gender makes it virtually impossible to prove. Once 2nd discovery comes back w/financial info it will be clearer, but that hasn't happened. Discovery could be the back against the wall moment that brings it all down. So, nothing to loose. Well, I'll share my experience. Gave the house (was in process of being rebuilt after she pulled shenanigans to not have it acquired through government assistance. Absolutely. Been going through it since Feb. 2019. Things I never thought were possible have happened. In my experience so far, the court system does not see a father as equal in the equation. There is no 50 percent parental rights. You must go above and beyond any normal measure to even begin to have a chance of being a parent with joint custody of the children. It's deplorable. Feel free to DM as I'm always seeking help and support myself. It never hurts to have another set of eyes and ears to…

Your gut feeling is right. She's hiding parts of it. There's probably more issues too. The fact that she deflected and turned it back to you is typical behavior. As an earlier commenter mentioned, she's building a story to use against you. Do not let this go. The tone you set now will determine outcomes down the road. Do not play this game AT ALL. Always act as if a judge is looking over your shoulder. Calmly and civil. But be firm and do not accept anything other than total transparency. I'd su…

As far as I know there was nothing he really could say. The judge just stopped one hearing and started another. It just happened. I do wish he would've objected and at least asked to be able to cross examine. Have you ever heard of a case just coming to a halt right after one side presents and then another hearing start?

I agree, but my attorney is really at the whim of the judge too so doesn't have anything to say about, really. It's really frustrating. When I read about Ex Parte there's a need for the hearing to be quick because one person is basically able to go to the court and say whatever they want. I know criminal and civil courts are different but it seems there'd be a basic process to protect one from what is happening to me. I appreciate your response.
