I understand why the breadwinner of a marriage should lose half of their assets and pay alimony/child support. It’s to protect the other party who may not have any work skills or etc… It’s basically insurance for them.

However, we know know this system is abused. I personally think that marriages would be significantly less risky if the non-breadwinner was denied any access to the breadwinner’s assets if they filed for divorce for irreconcilable differences or if a divorce was filed because the non-breadwinner was caught cheating and/or is a harmful threat to the family. If the breadwinner files for divorce for irreconcilable differences, then they should lose half their worth. If the breadwinner is found to have been cheating, then they should lose half their worth. There’s more cases that can happen but these are the main ones.

I don’t see why this system isn’t implemented…
