so many men have been forced to pay there ex-wife ridiculous sums of money, and whenever they complained. they were mocked. But now that its a woman being hurt by a system that has in the past destroyed countless men, without the slighflist shred of sympathy from anyone. Even when the suicide rate of men increases 11x upon divorce, but the suicide rate for women remains unchanged upon divorce. I just can't bring myself to feel any sympathy for a woman who becomes the victim of something men had been expected to suffer in silence for decades.

Well I tell everyone every day not to marry. So welcome to my world? I don't disagree with her reasoning, it's exactly the same reasoning I use. People shouldn't marry and they should learn something about the law, like what their common law marriage laws and obligations are like. What happens to your ass if you act as a fatherly figure towards the kids of the single mother you're dating, etc.

You wouldn't want to have the long dick of the law up your ass, so you might as well learn how to avoid it. And the best place to start is to not get married.

Its as if alimony is unfair. Who knew? At least this judge is lawful neutral in his results it seems, given just how useless contracts are for divorced men too.

If anything this just shows how marriage is a relic tied to religious partnership and survival. With both of those values no longer cared for, and the ease of divorce and birth control, it loses its purpose, becoming simply a shell as a romantic gesture, and financial/legal/culture statues. At least it retains its ability to trap fools and ruin lives.

Much as I want to enjoy the schadenfraude a little bit, she's not wrong. If prenuptial agreements aren't worth the paper they're written on even for wealthy families who can afford very expensive lawyers, what do they provide for the rest of us? A false sense of security, apparently.

Nobody should get married. It offers nothing and potentially costs everything.

That said, I dislike that any legal contract would be disregarded and I hope she obtains justice somehow (though I suspect the prevailing opinion is that she deserves mistreatment too).

No one should get married; it's an archaic tradition and a useless waste of time (which serves no real purpose, unless you are just getting married for tax-related reasons--in which case--enjoy your inevitable divorce).
