they should just make a second internet for feminists and sjws, so they can censor as much as they want and kick out anyone they don't like, at the same time the rest of us that doesn't get upset about people using bad words can use the normal internet without the constant bitching. win-win, everybody is happy. only problem is to get the feminists to accept that not everything has to be changed to meet their every need. you get insulted on twitter and can't deal with it? don't use twitter. /rant

In my view? This isn't a "Women's Issue" it's a "People who have strong opinions on the internet" issue.

In reality, people would be very reluctant to toss ad hominums and threats at you for stating an opinion, as they have personal accountability. However the anonymity online affords no accountability, so you can counter somebodies point with any insult you like and gain childish satisfaction from "trolling" them or whatever.

For example: To upset a feminist who is making a argument for women's rights, people resort to what they know will nettle them. ie: sexist, misogynistic slurs and rape threats etc. Do they believe them? Probably not, but the point is not to state an opinion, but to upset the OP.

To upset an MRA making an argument for men's rights? they'll likely resort to Homophobic slurs, attacks on their masculinity and sexual history or prowess, or even just the fact they are a man and/or white. Again, not because they necessarily believe them, but because they know it will get a reaction.

The same can be said of atheists and religious activists, both receive threats and insults calculated not to refute their argument, but to upset and demoralize them.

Articles like this bother me because the only real way to deal with a child screaming is to punish, or to ignore. Forum communities often "punish" through bans and so on, and MMO's etc have strictly enforced rules regarding harassment. In less closely monitored communities however when that isn't an option, people should just downvote (where applicable) and move on. Giving them attention, any attention, is a victory for them. Because really? That is all they wanted in the first place.

If they police the internet then they should police the bars, especially on weekend nights. I have heard people say they'd "fuck my mother"; told to "fuck myself"; "beat the shit out of me" and even "they'd fucking kill me".

This type of article is ridiculous and an untold number of levels. Meanwhile the homeless are still starving and freezing to death.

It's business as usual when feminists complain on the internet that they are chased out of the internet... Like when a female politician complains that females are not allowed in politics or a Fortune500 businesswoman complains about the glass ceiling.

Anyways, trolling is not limited to females, duh. Pure bullshit, as par for the feminist course.
