I was going to say something about how the people who don't like the whole idea of "Not judging without reason" are just going to defend whoever they want to be the good guy, and that unlike normal those people really like this guy enough to not brand him a criminal...

...but the article is worse than what you make it out to be. The article actually complains about people saying they hope a crime wasn't committed, because it'd mean, in their words, "we’re hoping potential victims of sexual assault are liars".

They literally said they'd prefer if a crime had actually occurred, because otherwise it'd mean that the accusers were lying. And they don't want that.

Defend the right of the accused to maintain their status in society as innocent of any crime, until said criminality has been proved in a court of their peers, why is it so hard for people to understand that it is a RIGHT to be maintained as innocent until the end of proceedings one right which is constantly trampled on.

Of course we don’t “hope” to see our idols become criminals. But hoping that an allegation is false really means that we’re hoping potential victims of sexual assault are liars. In many cases, we should actually be relieved that sexual abusers have been identified and that their victims have felt safe enough to speak out.

I mean it's normal in the world to exploit the suffering of others for your own political goals, but to go out and say you hope there actually was suffering so you would have some to exploit is just the kind of disgusting thing these people get away with saying all the time.

Let's assume he did what he was accused of. Where I live, and in most of the US, 16 is legal. Creepy? You bet. But legal. So to me, this is like someone be tried for blasphemy. They didn't do anything wrong, just the laws are stupid and twisted in that part of the world. And this is assume it is true. If it isn't true and things only occurred at 18, then even less of a problem.

*There is generally an exception if the individual is a parent or teacher, but this is not the case.

Also, if Elmo was done by a very attractive female, how do you think this would have played out?

Tired of these news stories that are just looking for a juicy angle. Men and women go into these major scandal trials without a chance for a fair shake. Why? Because even if they're acquitted no one will remember anything but the accusation.

The whole thing is sort of unfortunate. I have a lot of respect for Clash for his work with puppets and for running Sesame Street. I wasn't allowed to watch Television very often as a kid, but I can see the value of shows like his.
