She is a politician calling out another politician for being sexist, in the way that politicians do. She doesn't throw a hissy fit, and she doesn't fall back to misandry to make her points.

Yeah, as much as I am a MRM supporter, Gillard was in the right on this one.

Abbot is a loathsome piece of shit, who does have a long history of fucking with women's reproductive rights, and generally acting like a complete cock.

He is an ex catholic priest, who went into politics. That tells you what kind of prick he is.

I am not a Gillard fan by any means, but she is in the clear.

The coalition managed to make a big deal out of the speaker of the house saying Cunt once in his life (well before he was in politics), and he was also the subject of a sexual harassment suit from a MALE staffer.

Abbot has said a lot worse about women in his life, as well as refusing to fully disavow a statement made by one of his media lackeys Alan Jones, that her father "died of shame".

Her dad had not been dead even a month, before that claim was made.

Abbot is slimy piece of shit, who takes his orders from an organization that likes to fuck children.

So I am not going to be too hard on Julia on this.

What the hell is wrong with you? Do you even live in Australia? Do you even follow the news or politics at all?

Your title indicates to me that you are a complete dolt. This is not even in the same postcode as "men's rights". Every single line she served Abbott was truly deserved, and she is 100% correct in slamming him the way she did.

If you bothered to watch the video the whole way through, you will hear Gillard pull out select quotes from Abbott's recent political career in which he takes questionable stands on women's rights. The positions he takes are usually skewed by his Catholic upbringing (e.g. labelling abortion "the easy way out"). If you had been listening to him at all over the last 15 years, you would remember he was called "The Mad Monk" for his laughably religious stances on social issues (to the point where he will throw out evidence if it doesn't agree with his opinion.)

So no, this is not a "tantrum" or a "hissy fit", you slack-jawed idiot. This is a legitimately accurate rebuttal from the Prime Minister, and your language is so ironically sexist that you prove the very point she's trying to make.

I didn't realize that MRM ment that gives men the right to say, or behave in any way they want, no more than being a feminist gives women the right to do or say whatever they like. The man who said these deplorable things deserves a good kick in the ass on his way out the door, Tony Abbott is obviously a sexist. Just because women have advantages in some areas, it doesn't mean they aren't repressed in others, and when they are repressed it should be called out. Just as when men are repressed, it should be called out and stoped.

And just point of note? Calling it a hissy fit? Is kinda bull. She lays out a well argued, well thought out and factual presentation of how she sees the problem. Calling it a hissy fit makes you sound purely anti simply because it is a woman speaking.

The Australian parliament is, alas, a house full of deranged monkeys throwing shit at one another. For Gillard to stand up and whine that some of the shit has landed on her while everyone else takes the same abuse without cowering is a great sign of weakness.

Also, being both a feminist and a politician, she is quick to lie. Abbott, foul as he is, is not being misogynist. Misogyny is the hatred of women, it is not the hatred of one woman, much less is it thinking that men are better at some things. As for sexism, you know what's sexist? Writing a rule that makes sure only members of your own sex can run for certain parliament seats, that's sexism.

In a nutshell, my opinion of Gillard is now lower and while i have always disliked her i haven't doubted her strength -- until now.

Seems more like political hypocrisy ala going after Clinton while engaged in your own affairs than any mensrights or womens rights issue.
