Just like when someone spreads photos of some chick who thought it was a good idea to post tits to the internet, those people have no one to blame but themselves.

When you post nude photos of yourself on the internet, it's like walking into a public park stark fucking naked, then complaining when people are looking, except you wont get arrested.

I have no sympathy for those same people.

You've asked two questions; they were rhetorical but I'll answer them anyway. You've also made a statement in another comment in here so I'll address that too here.

Edit: I interpreted OP's rhetorical question to be about the reaction to what the "ladies" are doing, not about the action itself. The action is the same, it's the reaction that is different. I'll leave my post otherwise unedited as the child posts won't make sense otherwise.

There are a number of ways in which it's different, largely because many of the men would be flattered and not at all upset. One may reasonably argue that it would not be the case for most women. Now I'm not saying that's ok, nor am I saying which the right reaction is (although I personally think "flattery".) Is it largely hypocritical? Yes. Is it the same? No.

It isn't, but neither is much of the behaviour of Reddit as a whole, if you look at it like that.

There's /r/gentlemanboners and the infinitely worse /r/dopplebangher . I'm not complaining or condemning, but to make out like this is a one-sided thing because you don't know what's going on leads to a misleading conclusion.

SRS or 2XC would be up in arms.

2XC for the large part don't give two shits about us, and our equivalent would be somewhere between the laid-back /r/Oney and the more actively engaged /r/MensRights. There is no single equivalent subreddit for Men.

SRS are trolls. They generally go after the "low hanging fruit", the easier targets. That would be us; we hold views that are, for want of a better word, politically inconvenient. We are not traditionally seen as victims, so SRS victimizing us is a positive thing for them. Is it right, is it fair? Of course not, but they're fuckin' trolls, they don't give two shits about fair, they do it because they find it fun.

In all fairness, when was the last time on this site men couldn't proudly say /r/gonewild is awesome? Hell, Zack Braff posted that it was "glorious" and 90% of responses were "hell yah! one of us!", followed by the gone wild traffic increasing exponentially with chicks posting "here Zaff, this is for you!"

Men can openly do it too as long as it's online.

I find that idea really quite creepy. I know I've posted pictures of myself in subreddits that I wouldn't want to find had been reposted by others, in any capacity. Although I feel at the same time, when posting something into the public domain, it is unreasonable to expect to be able to trust everyone who comes across it.

Further to this, I've definitely noticed more people specifically asking people to 'post this into 'blah' for us'. It also seems odd to me to ask people to do this when if an individual was here to exploit their images in that way, they would probably have already done so. I suppose on some level it seems flattering, but a wolf whistle in the street is 'flattering' and distasteful at the same time too.

This is a slight tangent but...

I've been noticing the trend for women in general in the last year to be a lot more vocal about the 'visual appeal' of certain famous males. I think this trend is driven by Facebook and Twitter, which have not only given women a platform to say these things publicly, but kind of encouraged it as more and more women and girls make these kind of comments to grab attention. Note also that its not regular guys who are the object of their lusts, but famous guys with very fit bodies (people like the actor Taylor Lautner, or the 18 year old Olympic diver Tom Daley). Its surprising how lewd/crude some of their comments are, and how even some women in their late 20s/30s are making comments about teenage guys.

This was never so commonplace even 5 or 10 years ago.

Anyone else noticed this trend?
