I hope this is okay to post here. I thought it was related. So, basically my nephew (sister's kid) was born seven days ago, (eight tomorrow) and tomorrow they're going to mutilate his penis. I understand, rules being what they are, I can't stop them from making a lawful decision, but evidently, I'm supposed to read something for the ceremony or whatever. I don't know. I'm not Jewish. My brother in law is. I've already let people know I'm uncomfortable with this and the whole practice, just not my sister because I didn't want to hurt her feelings. So, I really don't want any part of this, but I'm afraid of making my parents, the inlaws, and my sister angry or hurt. What do you guys think I should do?

Edit: Thanks guys, a lot of good advice. I was definitely leaning that way. I've decided that I won't even attend or be near the area, much less participate. Still, the whole situation really sucks, but I can't convince a family of jewish folks. Oh, and the worst part is the inlaw's granddaughter got a "naming day," substituting for a briss, go figure.
