Is this marketing person in high school? No? Does she have a college degree and maybe even a master's and some years in her field? Then the proper term is "woman." If you want to disrespect her profession, whatever, but you wouldn't accept being called an engineering boy, I presume.

ACTUALLY even worse than that is everybody has to pander to her "marketing brainstorms" which are all fucking COMMON SENSE when we sit in a room together i can see the expressions on all of our faces like "why the FUCK are we in this meeting?" I feel like this is such a waste of time.

I've spent many, many working hours in these brainstorm/vision/blue-sky-thinking type meetings. They've been run by both males and females, but I do associate them with a female management and organizational style. It's not just me saying it - for as long as I've been alive, I've been told that females make better managers and team players because they seek consensus and emotional engagement and try to make everyone "feel heard". So even when it's a male running the meeting, it's because he's been told the same things and taken them on board.

We're told that male organizational and managerial styles are about hierarchies rather than communities, and about things rather than about people. We've been told that's a bad thing. So we waste half a day sitting in a circle (apparently to show that everyone is equal, but with the actual effect that you're always exposed and can't slack off during the boring bits), encouraged to express our passion for the product and our vision for the company.

Most work that has to be done is boring. If it had to be done by people who were passionate about it, it would never get started. My vision is that I do a decent day's work and get decently paid for it. Apart from that, I don't need a big-V Vision, I need a decision from my manager about what to do, and the time and resources to get it done. Hierarchies and things that have to be done, not such a bad way of running things.
