Did the study show causation or only a correlation? It might be that the happiness for those couples is caused by something else, some factor which also causes them to delay sex.

For example, if highly religious couples are happier, and they also tend to delay sex until marriage, this could explain the data.

2.1. Perhaps lower sex drives by both partners = happier marriages, which also equal longer time before they have sex.

Tell me again how you somehow believe in rights? You claim to be about free speech rights, certainly when it benefits you, yet your ideal world seems to be one in which people don't have a lot of rights - just controls by right wing organizations.

I think the real reason for this is sex tends to cloud an intimate couple's judgment of whether the relationship is a happy one.

Let's be honest. Sex. It's a powerful drug! It tends to cause men and women alike to have a much rosier picture of how things are going with the other half. It makes it easy to conveniently gloss over some major issues that need to be addressed. It also augments the feelings of emotional intimacy when it's not feeling of intimacy that's not needed as much as but constant communication and mutual understanding! Part of the reason some people claim they are glad they waited until marriage rather than doing what they did with previous partners is they know they were more clear-headed and capable of deciding whether they made the right decision in marrying the man/woman of their life. Obviously, delaying sex before marrying the bridge/groom-to-be isn't a fail-safe against divorce, but it never hurts to enter a lifelong commitment with some preparation.

Plus there's a good reason reddit always advises everyone "don't stick dick in/clam your clamp over crazy." The sex might be great, but if that's the reason you're staying in an abusive relationship, you're gonna have a bad time!

Perhaps in the long term, but for young people who realistically don't plan to be with their gf/bf for years, delaying sex would not have this effect.

Don't get trapped in an ugly marriage: test your partner thoroughly before committing to anything more than a kiss at the end of the date.

You will never get falsely accused of rape or entrapped in an abusive relationship this way.
