I just graduated college, not on time, but I did.

I have a two-year-old son from a one-night-stand who refused any adoption options I pushed for that I barely get to see but financially support.

I have a good deal of friends who I put a smile on as I go to their weddings and be happy for them as they are finding the love of their lives, go on vacations, contemplate moving where they want, and have a normal, happy life.

My life has been taken away from me essentially. I know that sounds selfish, but my life is no longer my own. I have to settle on a job near this woman and my son, I have struggle through barely seeing him, I have to give up a significant amount of my income.

I can't find the love of my life because no one my age wants anything to do with a man who is in such a weird situation with already having a kid with a random woman who doesn't love me and who I don't love.

I get sick when I hit it off with a girl only to be rejected because I can't fit in with a normal lifestyle.

I'm shutting down, becoming depressed and ALMOST suicidal. My life from here on out is not my own. I serve at the will of my family and this random woman's family.

I hate what my life has become. I find only limited amounts of peace when I can temporarily pretend it's not the way it is. I hate my life, and I feel ashamed because this all presents a situation in which my son cannot have the father I always dreamed he would have.

I know I'm selfish, but damnit my life is no longer my own. My dreams are dead. I know my son's mother is technically in the same position, but she chose to ignore adoption. She wanted a child and I didn't.
