I can fully believe that Chris Brown and those who express anger in inappropriate ways should receive help, as those who are codependent enablers should also.

However, any act of compassion and mercy should be encouraged by society as long as it is healthy and motivates those people to become better. All too often, people want justice, pure and powerful but forget that unless it is tempered with mercy and wisdom, there is no way to move on or learn from any mistake.

Should the abuser get help? Yes. Should he be punished? Yes. Should people move on? Yes.

Personally I don't think celebrities have any obligation to be role models. What she does with her life is her business and no one else's.

As someone who was abused throughout his childhood and adolescence because my mother (the abuse enabler) wanted to protect my father (the narcissistic abuser) from his own actions, I can safely say that these people are right. No one should ever support anyone who has been abusive towards them.

Compassion and mercy are wonderful when presented to people who have earned them. Handed out gratuitously, they are nothing but abuse enabling.

Once again feminists find themselves befuddled by the complexities of the real world. Even if Brown is entirely to blame - that's an if - you can't just expect Rihanna to go from loving him to fully hating him. And imagine if the "best friend" who beat her up had been a female. Would she be getting this shit for saying the friend needed help? I doubt it.

This really isn't news. Of course Rhianna is going to have feelings for Brown. A beating doesn't suddenly change that. What's more, we don't know what happened. Maybe she was screaming in his face that she just sucked his best friend's cock?

We have to stop the insipid idea that when someone does hit, it's always out of the blue and the other person is a blameless victim. It's not true.

That said, violence and the decision to initiate violence are choices individuals make. And while you may have been goaded into the action, you are ultimately responsible for losing control.

I am not sure why this is difficult for people to understand. Surely there can't be that many people with borderline personality disorder out there?
