Whether or not a relationship abides by traditional gender roles or modern equality starts at the dating scene. At the latest, it is when the check comes, but may be before that. Regardless, the gender roles in the first stages of dating are male roles, and it is the woman who is the one subjecting him to them.

Yet, despite this, massive loads of attention is placed on the fact that men are not doing their fair share of household tasks, something that happens after men have been (often repeatedly) subjected to their role, when in reality, the woman has the majority power in first deciding whether a relationship is traditional or modern.

And it's not just the lack of attention on them that bothers me, but when there is attention on them, they're not treated hostile like female roles are. In fact, men are often shamed into their roles.

Sorry, but I will only think negatively of men who don't do their share of household tasks when women start paying their own way on dates and doing their fair share of the manly tasks.
