This is a complete meta post based on some ponderings regarding human nature. I don't want it to descend into a circle jerk of "because feminism LOL".

I've spent some time this evening discussing/arguing on a friendzone thread over in /r/self and I will freely admit that reddit is a bias sample, but I see this exact same behaviour reflected in real life. I've been encountering it in various guises for my entire life.

The irony is that one of the frequent arguments (or non-arguments) against what I say is that I'm closed minded; yet it is very rare that anyone will engage in debate; instead opting for their preferred option of slander and regurgitating the equivalent of religious texts.

I'm beginning to think that questioning the existing "status quo" mindset is the instigating moment which leads to a more red-pill lifestyle, but I can't actually work out what the catalyst is. I also wonder whether or not we should be encouraging the recently "unplugged" to begin objectively questioning their existence as a first step, or whether this mindset is a natural evolution as part of the process.

Now, my question is this:

To those of you who went through a solid unplugging from existing in a manner described above, to a position where you were willing to actually sit down and discuss something to a logical conclusion:

  • What changed?
  • Are you now more willing to discuss other topics outside of the male/female dynamic, more openly?
  • In retrospect, why were you so reluctant to actually argue a point? Is it fear of questioning your own motives or what?

Any further thoughts?
