The article correctly identifies libertarianism, and not conservatism, as the political philosophy that best represents the interests of MRM and many other minority groups.

However, I wouldn't give up on the libertarian wing of the republican party. You may be surprised come Tampa.

The republican party actively undermines the MRA because it pursues foolish restrictions on women's reproductive rights to such an extreme it is used as evidence of a misogynistic western society. By refusing to "choose their battles" they give credence to the idea that they simply "hate women" rather than have meaningful reasons for the policies they pursue.

For example, the "sex selective abortion" ban that the republicans pursue is seen as a political ploy to get any restrictions placed on abortion, rather than an important social issue.

As long as people perceive active misogyny at high levels of government, business or academia, the MRM will not be taken seriously.

American right wing "mras" seem to do more harm to the men's movement than anything else. They are our radfems, except radfems are at least smart enough to try hide their extremism.

This entire article makes the mistake that republican = conservative. Republicans left conservatism over 3 decades ago.

The left-vs-right question is a diversion. The left/right dichotomy of the 20th Century is an anachronism. The real issue is (roughly speaking) statist vs. libertarian, where by "statist" I refer to the collusion between corporate and formal state power.

While I started out in life on the far left, I find myself nowadays agreeing with the conservative right on many issues, particularly social issues. Where I part ways with them is on the issue of coercion (physical or economic). It's important to point out that for most people, the traditional trajectory of marriage/family/children is going to be the best fit in the long run, and women are better off having their children sooner rather than later. In other words, I agree that the illusion of feminist utopia needs to be countered. But it's also important to point out that the mold does not fit everyone, and that the rare individuals (women and men) who are called to a different path should be allowed to follow that path without condemnation. Because there is a distinction between speaking the truth about general socio-biological tendencies and forcing everyone to conform to one restrictive model, I still count myself on the more left-leaning side of MRM.
