It's because traditionally the home was the place of the woman and work was the place of the man.

Feminists kept the stuff they like and got rid of the stuff they don't like. That is also why women so often get custody of children and their deaths are worse than Men's deaths.

I think some women are quite happy being "helpless, poor creatures needing support" when it comes to getting settlement from a divorce. They rather like that gender role when it suits them.

Other times though, they're independent women who don't need no man's help.

I think that, since the divorce is really her fault (i.e. her cheating) any legal costs or costs incidental to the divorce, should come out of her share. Same for when a man is 'at fault'.
