I was circumcised as a baby (obviously without my consent) and I've never missed having a foreskin. What's the big deal?

The big deals are as follows:

1) It is impossible to miss something that you don't know what it is like having.

2) It is an irreversible surgical procedure performed predominantly on babies, obviously without consent, with no medical benefit.

3) There are a wide variety of complications that are possible - while the percentage of these occurring is small compared to the percentages of them not occurring, it is an unjustified risk.

4) There is no fundamental difference between male and female genital mutilation. They are both done predominantly for religious excuses. One is outlawed, the other is not.

We're happy that you don't have a problem being circumcised. No, really, we are. But that doesn't change the fact that performing permanent cosmetic surgery with no clear health benefits whatsoever on an infant (obviously without their consent) is morally corrupt and should be condemned.

Shall we give all baby girls breast implants when they're 10 days old? Cut out our babies tonsils and appendix, since it's likely that they'll get tonsillitis and/or appendicitis?

It's unnecessary, it's done without consent, and it's irreversible.

If you met a woman who had her clitoris removed as a baby who said what you do, would you think it was fine to do it to other women, or would you still think it a vile act?
