Sexist joke lands Chilean president in hot water. Politicians denounce Piñera for his ‘prehistoric and sexist remark.’ Whatever... The JOKE is a crack up and hardly severe. How pathetic have we become when we can't even make a joke without a childish PC backlash.

Well, people would argue that the workplace is not an appropriate location to for jokes that people may find offensive. The workplace for a politician is anywhere in public.

But many people are hypersensitive about such things and try very hard to find something to be offended about. They can use the current laws and their offended nature to gain power/control. At what point do we stop and say "sorry, you don't have a reasonable expectation to be offended by that."

This was completely inappropriate for a head of state to say. To say that when a lady says "no" means "maybe", when "the no means no" idea is so closely intertwined with rape is completely out of bounds. This is not a mens rights issue, and this subreddit should not be supporting it. This is a stupid politician saying an inappropriate joke. If Angela Merkel made a "cut the balls" a la Katherine Heigl joke in a public and official setting, people would be up in arms as well.

Joke about rape? The writer of this article clearly didn't get the joke. Yes it was sexist, but it was referring to the stereotype that women play hard to get, and women that don't are sluts. I won't deny it was a bad move politically, but to mislabel it like that-be it for sensationalism or some sort of feminist bias-is irresponsible.

Being a lady and being a woman are two completely separate things.

A lady is to a woman as a gentleman is to a man. Commenting on the behaviors of gentleman is hardly sexist as being a gentleman has to do with how one acts. I'd even say that a woman could be a gentleman if she acted properly. Just as a man could be a lady with the proper decorum.
