Seems she thought she'd get a female-privilege pass there - as though she could just spit in someone's face and not be accountable for it.

Otherwise, she was intentionally provoking a fight and he was justified in accepting the challenge.

All I saw was a female attacking a guy from behind.

Women can be physically aggressively. So can men.

Both people were at fault, but initiating the stupidity is stupid.

You don't pick fights unless you're okay with the legal, physical, and psychological consequences of losing or winning fights. People will fight you if you pick fights.

Some people just watch too many movies. Then they pick a fight and learn their lesson (hopefully) that picking fights is not a viable long term survival strategy.

Sorry, but you don't hit other people like that. Man or woman, you don't respond to being spit on by physically assaulting the person who did it. The guy is an asshole for hitting another person in anger.

OK, I understand the general anger here about this and usually it would be correct. This kind of thing happens at a Screeching Weasel show because it's a punk show and Ben Weasel is genuine asshole and a bully. I saw Screeching Weasel in @'93 and this exact same thing happened except it wasn't girl but my friend, a 5' 3" Hispanic guy. He's just a coward taking it out on the smallest person possible. Of course, in '93, they were playing in condemned warehouse on the west side with no security and they had to leave town very quickly. In fact, they were kind of lucky they didn't get stabbed. Basically, there aren't any Men's or Women's rights issues here, just a worthless jock bully that doesn't deserve any deeper motive or significance being imbued in an incident involving him.

I used to go to tons of punk rock shows. A lot of people spit and throw shit at the stage during these. A lot of these people get hit or beat up for it. Nothing to see here.

Thought I might add some perspective. I am a heavy indulger of punk rock culture, and even though Ben Weasel has a long history of being a dick she make the active decision to be in a punk rock mosh. Mostly its catharsis but from time to time someone will get punched or injured. It is a place of no bias, man or woman you get treated the same.

Here is one of the most famous pieces of footage from the band Black Flag in which Henry Rollins wails on a fan for fucking with him in much the same way the girl did to Weasel, just being an annoying prick.
