All women should make the same as the highest paid men NO MATTER WHAT THE WOMEN DO. Even if they do a Russian literature degree. Even if they work part time. Even if they work in safe job with no risks.

Does she think money grows on trees? You have a team of 20 bankers working on a $10 billion IPO. You have a team of 50 engineers working a $100 million contract. And you have a team of 20 social workers at a non-profit that makes $0 and runs on donations or charity. Who do you think gets paid the most and who do you think gets paid the least?

It has very little to do with what is hard. It has very little to do with what adds the most "social value" (very arguable which jobs actually create more social value). If you want more money, guess what matters most? Money! Your employer can't pay you what he doesn't have. A bank can pay their bankers $500k/year because bankers bring in that much more than that to the company. The engineers cannot make $500k/year because their company doesn't make that much money, but they can make $100k/year. The non-profit simply cannot afford to pay much at all.

Workers always think about supply and demand from their own perspective. "Very few people are as skilled and educated as me, so I deserve to be paid more". But they ignore it from the employers perspective "I don't have the money to pay $500k/year salaries" (aka there is very little supply of cash and many workers in this industry, so wages are going to be small). People who want to make money go to fields where there is a huge supply of money in employer's hands and where there is a lack of workers (usually due to skills required). If you spend a lot of time acquiring skills to go to an industry that doesn't have money, then what did you expect? Money isn't going to grow on trees to pay you. It's unfortunate that many people don't realize this until well after college.

I am not picking on social workers, liberal arts majors, etc. But those fields don't have a lot of money. You have to be okay with living a very average lifestyle, or even sub-par, if you are going to choose to enter that field, because most likely that is what you are going to get. That is simply reality.

Gotta hate when people with not even a basic understanding of economics try to say the economy is being sexist.

It's basic supply and demand.

There's a high demand for engineers => they get hired quickly and get paid well.

There's a low demand for social workers => they get hired here and there and get paid less.

Demanding everyone getting paid the same is insanity and would make the global market crash even faster than it already did not so long ago.

I don't see this as a feminist demand for equal pay issue, it's an issue with the industry these people are in. Some industries pay better. Sometimes the same work with the government pays better, and sometimes it's better in the private sector.

This isn't a gender equality issue at all. If this were a gender pay issue, the author would be promoting that that women should receive higher pay in those industries while men receive the same. The author would also have pointed out that men in those jobs that are dominated by women make more, when all the author does is point out that those industries make less in general. If the pay for those industries were to go up it would benefit both the women and men of those respective fields.

So, I'm not sure why this is in Men's Rights and the author may be confused because the author doesn't actually provide evidence supporting an inequality in pay for women, but rather an entire industry.

These same people probably laugh when they read an article about women outearning men in certain fields (for the same work) or getting a lot more college degrees then men.
