MAWMAWMAMWAMW,

Sorry had to do it, the voices made me... :-)

I don't think they will learn. The point of threatening to filing a false police report is to coerce the man to do what the woman wants. Simply filing a false police report does not cut it - all it does is inflict harm.

you should have one already on speed dial.

Also, never talk to the cops: (1) name, (2) address, and (3) where you are going are the only three questions you should ever answer. then shut up.

[–]NoSalt 1 point2 points3 points 15 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Why even tell them where you are going? It's none of their damn business.

[–]SamGill3 points 15 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

because they can make you answer where you are going. everything else, you don't have to answer. and everything you say WILL be used against you in some way, rest assured. that's why the best policy is to shut one's mouth.

It's sad that men have to stoop to videotaping and recording their interactions with their partners just to avoid their violence, their lies, and their unrepentant criminal behavior. We shouldn't put our trust in such untrustworthy people.

[–]s73v3r 2 points3 points4 points 15 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Well, the answer to that would then be to not trust anyone, until you have concrete evidence that you can.

However, such an untrustworthy world is not really one that I'd want to live in.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 15 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I don't always quote the bible, but this passage seems relevant--I judge people by their actions. Untrustworthy people do untrustworthy things, generally. That's why I don't seek out women to date at bars and other places where fakeness is a possibility; I meet girls in martial arts classes, at the archery range, or doing something else I already enjoy doing. That way, we have something to talk about right off the bat (bauss) and I get to see how they interact with others (double bauss).

[–]Whoooah 7 points8 points9 points 15 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This is all really awesome. Good on him for quick-thinking and shame on her for being a liar and an asshole.

Pity that awesome didn't extend to the comments - you think "Oh, one or two racist idiots"... and then notice that they have multiple "likes". Bah.

Sheriff's Lt. Dan Norris tells Hair Balls he doesn't have any further info on the incident, including the name of the woman, who was arrested for making a false report.

Remember that, if no video had been made, the guys' name would have been made freely available.

[–]discdigger 3 points4 points5 points 15 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Don't you talk bad about Lt. Dan! He ain't got no legs!

[–]ManThoughts 9 points10 points11 points 15 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

The comments are worth reading. There is one racist yahoo and one feminist accusing everyone of doubleplusungood thinking. But besides that it's a bunch of men and women taking a stand against false accusations.

[–]thedevguy 7 points8 points9 points 15 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

one feminist accusing everyone of doubleplusungood thinking.

In case anyone didn't read all the comments, the poster he's referring to is blurghs and this user's most recent post contains this little gem:

"I see false accusations on a near daily basis. Proven, false accusations. For men actually sent to jail or prison, the failure lies not on the victim who reported the crime but on the prosecutors who pursued the case and the police who failed to investigate. Attacking the credibility of women who report rape on a whole does nothing to lessen the number of false claims of rape."

Now keep in mind, from other comments it's clear that this is a person who is completely unsympathetic to the man in this story. And yet, "I see false accusations on a near daily basis." Uh, wouldn't that eventually lead you having a bit of compassion?

But the best part of this comment is, if this man hadn't made this recording, if he were rotting in jail right now and none of us even knew about, blurghs says, "For men actually sent to jail or prison, the failure lies not on the victim who reported the crime but on the prosecutors who pursued the case and the police who failed to investigate." So let me just see if I've got this straight, she lied for the express purpose of harming him. But if her lie had been successful, it wouldn't be her fault and we still refer to her as a victim?

Wow. What do you even say to that?

[–]ManThoughts 3 points4 points5 points 15 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Blurghs is a classic white-knight with a "woman can do no wrong" perspective. At first I thought he was a woman, but he's actually a male radical feminist. LoL!

[–]AnnArchist 3 points4 points5 points 15 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

You say "So, TL/DR: we can never victim blame, even when there is no victim and when no crime occurred because that fits your world view. In summary, women never lie about rape. Even when they lie about rape and use the law maliciously, we should believe them anyway and hope that the cops and prosecutors get it right. After all shes just a girl and doesn't know better."

[–]zarquon989[S] 4 points5 points6 points 15 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Yes, the comments are surprisingly positive. Maybe the issue is getting traction.

[–]s73v3r 0 points1 point2 points 15 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

False rape accusations hurt actual rape victims as well. And, in general, I'd like to think that most people don't like it when injustice happens, especially with something as sensitive as rape.

[–]SarahC 2 points3 points4 points 15 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I hate the rules about recording people in video or audio... who the hell's that to protect!? If it was to prevent leaking information - it wouldn't work when I could just tell people the information.

Yet Emails don't seem to have the same protection - if someone Emails me, I think I can show whoever I want that Email?

I'd vote if the main point was "Free to record audio and video anywhere one is legally allowed to be."

[–]ManThoughts 1 point2 points3 points 15 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yeah I'm really divided about it. On one hand, I woould be horrified if someone recorded me in a compromising position and blasting it all over the Internet. On the other hand, recording has legitimate uses.

The people who would be spied on? Like it or not, people do have a right to privacy.

read a similar report. The relationship was so bad that the guy frequently recorded their argument on his blackberry. girlfriend (or wife) said her intention before calling the cops on him. He played it back and they took her to jail instead.

Best one was from 4chan about a guy playing around with his new camcorder, who accidently recorded his ex begging for his help for an abortion (father was another guy). Dude made her give him a blowjob then told her to hit the bricks. Said said she was gonna sue him for rape and that the baby was his. They went to court, when right before final argument, he gave his lawyer the tape and played it in open court in front of her parents.

If my limited legal knowledge derived from watching My Cousin Vinny is correct, then I don't think that's how it works.

[–]darkon 3 points4 points5 points 15 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

One of the comments on the page pointed out that in some states he would have been arrested for recording her without her knowledge.

[–]Dexter77 1 point2 points3 points 15 years ago (12 children) | Copy Link

Wouldn't it be ironic if he had actually raped her after making the video

[–]Whoooah 1 point2 points3 points 15 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That'd just be fucking awful. While she is an awful person and a liar who should be punished, she would not deserve to be raped, and he would be an abhorrent person to do so. Injustice done to oneself does not validate committing injustices against others.

(The above it not specifically directed at you, it is also directed at the replies to your post).

But yeah, it would be ironic by definition.

No it wouldn't. I can't say I would feel sympathy toward her, but I wouldn't not wish that upon anyone.

Hey, I don't condone rape, but I'm certainly not gonna have any empathy when it happens to a false accuser......why should anyone?

[+][deleted] -6 points-5 points-4 points 15 years ago* (4 children) | Copy Link

Because being raped is a horrible and traumatic experience that fucks you up for life?

Edit Once again r/mensrights reveals an illogical prejudice. If a woman tries to ruin a man's life, you can no longer feel empathy for her regardless of circumstance. But in any other case where someone commits a life ruining act, you harbor no significant ill will. This is a double standard and weakens your position significantly.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 15 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Because being imprisoned is a horrible and traumatic experience that fucks you up for life?

[–]cybin 1 point2 points3 points 15 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Because being imprisoned based solely on the false accusations of a psycho bitch is a horrible and traumatic experience that fucks you up for life?

ftfy

[–][deleted] -3 points-2 points-1 points 15 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

So you lack empathy for anyone who commits a terrible criminal act? Thieves and murderers and even rapists, as long as their actions could have ruined another's life you no longer have empathy for them? Or is this just limited to false rape accusers specifically?

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 15 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

What do you think you mean here? Have I shown empathy to a different criminal?

[–]AnnArchist 0 points1 point2 points 15 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Wheres a link to the video?

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

[–]IronWolve -1 points0 points1 point 15 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Lucky the guy isnt arrested for some wire taping laws, or some other bullshit. The system is so corrupt, best to avoid at all costs. One reason people plead guilty all the time, its better than facing a system that assumes you are guilty by gender.
