The fact that many males in jail simply cave in to pressure and obey and become sex slaves. Nobody ever considers them rape victims. But by feminist definition every single person in jail that performs sex is a rape victim, because they are in a coercive environment.

The slightest perceived power potential makes totally consensual male on female sex "rape". If he is the boss, if she is slightly incapacitated, if she is an adolescent minor, any slightest power differential makes consensual sex rape. What about being a young cute artistic non-fighting white boy in a prison dominated by black and hispanic gangs of tough boys. That automatically should make any consensual sex act "rape"

Just like to point out that there is no such thing as consentual sex in prison/jail. Every act of sexual intercourse is considered rape.

I have been getting more and more annoyed with the prejudice that is often associated with "men's rights," on this board. Feminists are not automatically the enemy of equality. Some women legitimately believe that women deserve more rights then men, or at least, different rights then men get, but these are rare women who don't have anything to do with the overall movement.

As a man, I've worked with a number of feminist groups and volunteered as an advocate in both male in female prisons. The female self proclaimed feminists that I worked with were professional and displayed the exact same level of concern for the cases of prison rape regarding men or women. If anything, there was often universal prejudice in men's favor regarding claims of rape due to the extreme psychological and physical damage that it caused was more obvious than in a lot of the cases regarding women.

This article, which imagines it's own problems, ("Why this deafening silence of the feminists regarding prison rape?") Clearly hasn't done any research on the topic at all and blames a whole movement for their own prejudice. There has been and continues to be many feminist writings and work done to try and eliminate prison rape as even the most basic google search will show you. But that's even besides the point. If feminists are fighting for equal rights for women, then that's their issue and they can fight for it as exclusively or inclusively as they want. Nobody is complaining if a men's rights activist doesn't go out and protest in support of women's right to choose, even though that's the right thing to do.

The article is written from the perspective that feminists love prison rape! It even pulls this crap: "By feminist rape standards, a prisoner is unable to consent to sex, because he has no safe option to say "no"."

What the hell are feminist rape standards? That's bullshit. There is only one standard: Rape is having sex with someone without their consent. In prison, if there is no safe option to not consent, then of course it's rape and nobody is denying that.

Here's the real problem. It's not a society that preaches misandrogyny. It's that nobody gives a shit about prisoners. We have more prisoners than any other country in the world. A full 1% of our population is incarcerated. It's one big privatized mess that is entirely run on a system of abuse, both physically and sexually. And that's by design. I can't tell you how difficult it was to work as an advocate in a prison. I would send a letter reaching out to an abuse victim or informing a prisoner that their sentence has been reduced for good behavior and the guards would literally rip it up before it got to them. It's not that they hate men or think that the term "rape" isn't applicable against men or anything like that. It's just a terrible terrible abusive system that abuses both men and women.

Meanwhile, outside of prison, rape gets way more news and concern because these are free citizens who, as our society apparently thinks, are less deserving of rape. And of course everybody is going to think that the rape of a cute 14 year old girl is a larger tragedy than the rape of an incarcerated 28 year old gang member, but that's hardly the fault of feminism. It's just prejudice in general.

Furthermore, I'd just like to go on record and state that while we are talking about isms this phrase in particular in the article jumped out at me "What about being a young cute artistic non-fighting white boy in a prison dominated by black and hispanic gangs of tough boys."

While it's true that a "young cute artistic non-fighting white boy" probably doesn't have as much of a shot at living comfortably in a prison "dominated by black and hispanic gangs of tough boys" it really sounds to me that the author is just writing an overgeneralized diatribe while not really thinking clearly about a complicated and horrific issue.

Failure of law to be in charge at prisons the prisoners make the rules law just lives with them.

Criminals are being taught the cant control inside a prison they sure cant control outside if they release enough of us with no jobs and nothing to lose.

Scholarships, leniency in the courts, impossibly easy to not be forever alone, socially ok to stop working and have your bills paid, free to work less hard and be promoted over men... etc. etc.
