Sounds like a Disney style fairy tale. In the Grimm version he marries her after all his buds warn him, and she ends up being a witch. Her wedding gift is a spell that turns him into a wild man with long hair and iron skin and he is then thrown into a lake.

A bit longer but still... A man and a woman decided to marry. Actually it's the woman who decided, but anyway. And so they married. On the morning after the wedding night, the man killed the woman.

The moral of the story: better sleep over it.
