A favored lady friend of mine likes to feign indignation over the fact that I believe she’s either lying, or not telling the entire truth, every couple months. In fact, this has been a common pattern with females in my life: I press for the truth of an issue, they get fake-offended.

On the surface, it seems to make sense. It can seem like an affront to a person’s integrity to be questioned on certain matters.

Alas, I know better. I have been with more than my fair share of lady friends, far exceeding the national lifetime average for American men–though as of this writing, I’m just 26 years old.

I know from years of observation and anecdote: Women lie. Constantly.

While this is the part of my article that would normally invite shaming tactics from the Feminists and their ilk, I’d like to clarify that statement.

I think most women are fairly honest in their regular goings-on throughout the day. Some day, I may be proven wrong, but that’s what I currently believe. However, when it comes to anything even tangentially related to sex, relationships, or romance, they lie through their teeth, often as easy as they breathe.

Since I am a smart man, I don’t place myself in positions where this can have a severely negative impact on my life; rather, I simply trust women to be women, while keeping them at a distance which can, in my best estimation, do me no real harm in the long run.

With that being said, I recently found a fascinating study from the Manchester Evening News, conducted in 2004.

5,000 women were surveyed across Scotland, England, Northern Ireland, and Wales.

Here’s a summary of the results:

–50% of women would lie to their husbands if they got pregnant by another man, having the provider hubby believe he’s the actual father.

–42% of women would lie about contraception in order to get pregnant. (always use your own condoms, never raw dog a girl who claims to be on the Birth Control pill no matter how convincing she is)

–96% admit to lying, cheating or stealing in some form. Ninety-fucking-six percent.

–45% said they tell “little white lies” pretty much every day.

–83% of women admit to telling “big, life-changing lies.”

–Romantic partners are more likely to be lied to by women than their family, friends and coworkers.

–57% of women admit to stealing.

–38% would marry purely for money (surely while going to great lengths to convince the man of how and why he’s the love of her life).

–31% of all women (and 65% of single women) would not tell future partners about contracting a venereal disease.

–55% of women pretend to be sick or tired in order to avoid sex with their “significant other.”

–30% of all women have had an affair with a married man.

–68% of women do not trust their partner (I believe we call that “projection”).

So yes, guys–women lie. Constantly, about everything related to sexuality and relationships. Usually, they’re lying to you.

Despite all this, I can’t help but love the dazzling little creatures. Something about them brightens my day, which is only sometimes code for “makes my penis happy.” In all honesty, despite their Machiavellian natures, I generally prefer their company to that of males. Perhaps it’s the Law of Attraction at work, but damn do I love them.

But trust them?

No, not by a long shot. And you shouldn’t either.

If you must trust women, trust them to be true to their nature.
